“Not open to the public”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

My guide said it was open to the public for one day a year on the first day of Hari Raya. Not so - that was VIPs and the public were allowed on the 2nd day (if formally dresssed). I didn't go back.

“Fascinating slice of history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

Very nice house, currently the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Used to be occupied by Charles Brooke (one of the White Rajahs) who built the Brooke Dockyard which is across the Sarawak River.

Not open to the public but you can take photos from outside. Nicely manicured garden.

You can either drive there by car or take a ride across the Sarawak river on a 'sampang' which is a river taxi, for 40 cents one way.

“Lovely and historic.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

Very beautiful house that is used by the Governor of Sarawak. Can only be viewed from the outside either from across the river or take the ferry over and catch it on the way to the orchid garden. All lit up at night.
