We walked to the centre along the rail from the entrance to the Kubah National Park - it's a great way to get there if you have the time but make sure you've arranged for a taxi to pick you up. The reserve is fairly basic but there is a lot of information about the orang utan rescue programme. There are a limited number of creatures to view but these include some fascinating orang utans, a couple of captivating bearcats and a sunbear.

We visited Matang one afternoon in February , we enjoyed the park very much and we saw some small orang utans being taken for a walk by the keepers which was nice .The only downside was that there was nowhere to get any drinks which was especially bad due to the hot weather. We had visited before and they had a drinks machine so we didn't take any water. It is such a shame that places around Kuching do not make the best of things for tourists, they could make more money by having drinks or a cafe and also some souvenirs

It took me about 1 hour drive to this place. Honestly speaking it is not worth it. The only animal that is worthwhile are the orang utans but then again 'Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre' is a better place to see them. I am not sure what there is to write about this Matang Wildlife Centre at all. Enough said.....

areas to chill, areas to sleep, paths to walk and get amongst nature. seeing some of the animals is great to. great work going on to get alot of these animals released - some unfortunately are not able to, but they are definately in good hands.
