“Coffee and smoothie stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

My wife and I stopped here for a coffee and a cold fruit smoothie in the afternoon of our first day. Nice restaurant, very clean and excellent service and value. Highly recommended.

“A grand old lady”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2012

The old courthouse is a wonderful relict from the colonial era which is now used for tourist information, travel companies, a couple of restaurants and also a good place to escape from an afternoon rainstorm under its wide verandas.

“A Slice of the Past”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

This is an historically significant complex and will afford some great photo opportunities. The city information booth is nestled amongst the buildings along with travel booking firms. There is nothing to see interior wise. The Cafe on the front left corner is recommended - great pizza and the local rice wine is surpringly dry and delicate. The chalk board menu takes some liberties with McD which made us smile. The outdoor patio afforded nice views and cooling breezes. Note the Monday closure.

“A historical landmark in Kuching”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

The Old Courthouse Complex with its clock tower at the junction of Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Gambier and Main Bazaar, opposite the Kuching Waterfront was the first place that we visited in Kuching. It now house the Visitors Information Centre, National Parks Booking Office, a travel company and restaurant ('little Lebanon') among others. There's a nice inner courtyard and a small garden in front of the Old Courthouse where the Brooke Memorial (Charles Brooke monument) is. I must say that the entire place is well maintained and mostly put to good use, allowing Kuching to continue to retain that old-world charm.

“a walk through a nostalgic past”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

the Old Courthouse and surrounding buildings are well preserved - on the exterior - but alas, either locked up, or taken over by travel agents or food shops...a pity, because this whole precinct is both valuable history, and a drawcard for visitors.
