The building for the textile museum is near a busy shopping area, but do step in as the display of clothing, woven textiles, machines and history of all the different ethnic peoples of Sarawak are displayed here. I found this quite interesting since I am a designer. No photos allowed.

This museum does not relate solely information about textiles but much more in terms of costumes, linens, general household use etc and covers (if memory serves me right) two floors.

It is worth a visit cost $0

The textile museum is next to the Sarawak Craft Council, just near the old courthouse. It has free entry (donation) and two levels of traditional costumes and fabrics. There are some dioramas of weaving and spinning and also lots of photo boards showing how yarns is made and dyed. There are lots of information boards as well.

Very interesting but you can not take photos.
It is on three floors so could be difficult for some. Some are the costumes were very elaborate for their age

The Textiles Museum in Kuching is housed in a beautiful old colonial building and has excellent displays of weaving, fabrics and methods of producing these items.

The items are both beautiful and beautifully presented. There is also a very good little shop which sells inexpensive and attractive fabrics and jewellery.
