My wife and I ate here during our trip to Kuching and had a really enjoyable meal. The restaurant itself is compact and looked clean and well maintained. When we ate here the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. Before during and after the meal the service was attentive. The owner introduced himself and showed an interest in our trip which was a nice touch. The food itself was really good, made with good quality fresh ingredients and well presented. I meant to write this review sooner but never got around to it until now so can't recall exactly which dishes we had but I do remember leaving thinking what an enjoyable meal we both had and that we would deifnitaley eat there again.

Slow service even managed to stuff up the order of courses, and large tables were better served while couples languished till they complained.
Worst of all was a half tandoori chicken with no leg or breast to judge from the miserable pile of bones that was left. We wondered where the extra meat had gone till we saw the crowded plates at the next table. One to avoid.

Dear Mr. MoJo,

I do not understand what was your problem when visiting our restaurant. (I suspect you could have lived in Russia for a considerable time to acquire such a Putin's attitude of non tolerance). I looked at our CCTV recording and the following was observed related to your arrival and your dining in our restaurant:

At 1912 local time on 17 March 2014, you entered our restaurant and you were seated on our table #1 and presented with 2 menu books. (You had 2 members). After giving you some time to read and understand our menu which has 24 pages numbering over 250 items (drinks & dishes), one of our staff approached you at 1919 to take your order for drinks and the food. The order was completed in a minute at 1920. At 1922, you were given Papadoms & achars for you to indulge and enjoy whatever conversations you might bring up between you two while waiting for the food and drinks to arrive.

At 1923, your ordered drinks Fresh Lime was delivered to you on the table. You may recall when you arrive at our restaurant, the restaurant was practically full with our esteemed guests. As mentioned in our menu book, we freshly prepare and cook individually all the dishes ordered by our guest, hence I hope you will appreciate that it will take time to get the food you ordered on the table. We serve first come, first served. (Some guest pre-order the food before they arrive, hence one can misunderstand why they are getting the food when you arrive earlier than them)

The item you ordered was Tandoori Chicken (1 plate - half chicken which means half breast of the chicken and 1 leg of the same bird. If the leg was not available, we give a full breast. Similarly, if breast run out we give 2 legs. After cooking, we cut into 4 pcs of the half chicken i.e.when you get you will find 4 pcs. of breast representing 1 whole breast OR 2 pcs. breast and 2 pcs. leg if leg was available. In your case, since we run out the leg you were presented with 4 pcs. breast. which is equivalent to half chicken. Our Tandoori Chicken does not contain skin. We removed them before marinating and cooking.

The Tandoori Chicken was delivered to your table at 1955 and I observed from the CCTV both of you (you and your wife) were enjoying the chicken. You were using fork and knife to cut the meat from the middle bone. From this, I can see that the meat belonged to your chicken was not given to other tables as you alleged.

At 2003, just before you finish your Tandoori Chicken you raised with one of our waiters the where about of other 3 dishes you ordered and you were told it will be delivered to you pretty soon.

At 2006, the empty plate of Tandoori Chicken delivered to you was cleared, giving way for other items to be presented to you.

At 2009, the remaining 3 items; 1 Plain Naan, 1 Butter Fried Dhal and 1 Raitha were delivered to your table. I can see you were very hungry and both of you competing on 1 Naan (your ordered dishes were very limited in number for both of you to enjoy a sumptuous meal).

In 10 minutes time, you finished all your food and at 2021 we cleared your dirty plates from your table. At 2022, the owner of the restaurant briefly met you at your table and chat with you for a brief moment as we had plenty of customers to entertain, hence the time devoted to you was regretfully minimal. At 2024, you asked for the bill which was presented to you on your table in a bill book. You paid the bill at 2025 and we opened the restaurant door and greeted you with a "good night" and apologised for the delay in serving the food.

So, all in all you spent 1 hour and 13 minutes in our restaurant which was air conditioned, clean environment, it was not very noisy and we hope you enjoy our hospitality and yet you went back and wrote stinking remark using the worldwide portal the TripAdvisor insinuating that the Tandoori Chicken was given to you without any meat of it. In other words, we gave the meat to someone else and the bone to you. What I gather from your remark was that you didn't order enough food for 2 grown up people. Hence, your wife had to sleep with an empty stomach. From the CCTV recording, we can observe that you ate more than what is your share without giving due share to your wife.

I hope you will visit us again and order some sumptuous food for you to enjoy. If you are still in Kuching, perhaps you could visit us and observe yourself what you have gone through on that day 17/3/2014.

All our guests are important to our sustainability. We have been running this restaurant for the last 20 years and there were guests from all over the world including Russians. Most of them were very appreciative, though we had couple of adverse comments. Those comments were mainly attributed to the waiting for the food. Of course, we told them that there is a McDonald nearby where you can get pre-cooked chicken and bun without much waiting. But, if you want a specific chicken part in quantity, McDonald will tell you that you have to wait minimum of 25 minutes to fulfill your special order. So please when you go for dining, be prepared to wait for a quality food for your dining pleasure.

We noticed that this is the 1st time you are making a review using TripAdvisor portal. From it, we observed that you were very angry. Please once again forgive us if we did not meet to your expectations. Please read all the comments, 129 of them made by various guests using the esteemed TripAdvisor portal and try to understand us and try to visit us. Cheers!

Thank you.

We decided to go for a different non-Malay cuisine this time, and were happily surprised by this true North Indian restaurant. Owner and staff are really dedicated, and speak with a warm heart to their customers: both about food, their restaurant sn life in general. We would definately recommend it!

I wanted to go here for lunch on sunday. Apparently it was closed. I returned in the evening of the same day and luckily the place was open.
I sat down, was greeted by the owner and got a menu. The waiter gave me time and after I wasn't too sure what to get he gave some good recommendations. I selected the chicken masala with plain rice.
The food came surprisingly fast after about 10-15 minutes. The chicken masala was quite good and the portion was huuuge. In the end I even struggled a bit to finish all.

Referring to the other feedback here on tripadvisor regarding the very communicative owner:
While eating he talked a lot with an other couple. But it seemed that they liked it.
I think he is a really nice guy and if you ask him politely he will give you your privacy.

Liked the place, would come back and the waiter was very professional.

Dear Jon P,

Thank you for your well taught comment. The Lyn's owner was simply trying to amuse every customer who he consider to be his ardent guest who came to his restaurant uninvited but willingly to enjoy their dining pleasure. We strongly feel that we have a duty to amuse all of them while they were waiting for the food as well as after they had an enjoyable meal before they depart.

If you go to any other restaurant in Kuching, you would not find such a welcome and pleasant conversation during the time you spend with the owner or the top management staff but here in Lyn's we make it a point to pleasantly converse to every guest. Of course, if any of the guest need complete privacy while they are dining, we are ready to give it to them.

Thank you for visiting us and looking forward to serve you again.
