We stopped by this restaurant for lunch during a few days at a conference in Kuching. It is located right in the centre of town, within walking distance from The Hilton, Pullman, and other major hotels.

Very clean restaurant, with smart friendly staff.

The menu is extensive, and offers some interesting dishes not usually found in Indian restaurants in Malaysia. Portions are large, tasty and well presented. Prices are very reasonable.

A pity we found this place on our last day, or we would have returned!

Dear Paul_CNX,

Sawadee krap! We thank you for patronising our restaurant during your conference in Kuching and writing appropriate comment about our restaurants operation on the worldwide portal TripAdvisor.

Since you are living in Chiang Mai, the beautiful city in Thailand I'm sure you would find time to visit Sarawak again and hopefully you will give us an opportunity to serve you with other varieties of dishes which you were not able to avail during your last visit.

When you visit next time, may I suggest you take a land route all the way from the southern Sarawak (Kuching) to the north Sarawak (Miri) via. Central Sarawak (Sibu). Your journey must be overland bus (6 hours journey from Kuching to Sibu) and the following day take express boat from Sibu to Kapit, 7 hours journey through the mighty Rejang River enjoying the beautiful jungle occasional sighting wild animal along the way to Kapit. You can stay 1 or 2 nights there and take a trip to Belaga by boat (4 hours journey), you can either stay in a hotel or arrange to stay with the locals Kayan and Kenyah families and proceed to Bintulu by road (4 hours). From Bintulu, the industrial town you can go by flight to Miri (1/2 hour) or by road (3 hours). You can spend in Miri (the oil town) from there you can take a trip (flying) to Mulu caves, Niah caves or go to Kelabit Highlands.

After spending few days at these places, you return to Miri from there you take another overland trip (either bus or taxi) to Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei Darussalam). Main attractions in Brunei is there is no alcohol, of course you can buy some of them at the border when you cross from Miri to Kuala Belait(Brunei). The main place to visit in Brunei couple of mosques in Bandar Seri Begawan and Water Village(the Venice of East). Having spend couple of days in Bandar Seri Begawan, you can take a boat ride to Labuan, a free port where all the alcohols are duty free (so anything you miss in Brunei, you can top up in Labuan). Spend a day or two in the beaches. From Labuan take a trip by boat to Beaufort (Sabah mainland landing place). From Beaufort you can take a train (short journey) to Tenom, Sabah; from there you can take overland bus or taxi to Kota Kinabalu (capital of Sabah). From KK you can visit nook and corners of Sabah either by overland or by flight. You can also venture to climb Mount Kinabalu (a 4000 m, the highest peak in Malaysia).

From KK, you can go back to Chiang Mai direct flight via. Kuala Lumpur or via. Manila-Bangkok.

Thank you for participating our restaurant and looking forward to serve you again.

The food was delicious and authentic with a great number of options, we had naan and pappadums, I had the Mumbai chicken and a side of rice, I could not fault the dish. Our young waiter was lovely and very efficient, however, we were a little put off by the cranky old man that appeared to be the owner and was talking down to his staff in front of customers, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary as they were doing a great job. All in all, the food was fabulous and my meal, juice, naan and pappadum was only 29 ringgit which is about $10 aus.

Dear Fiona,

Thank you for visiting our restaurant in a group of 11 guests and enjoying good food, good experience and lovely and young waiter who served you to your full satisfaction.

These good food, experience and efficient waiter service would not have been possible if the Old Man's constant daily input in the restaurant operation (the waiter/waitress, pantry operator, chefs, toilet and restaurant cleaners) were absent and as such, the old man would continue to manage the business to everybody's satisfaction.

You should not have involved in the staff and management matters. You should have waited at your table to settle the bill insisting on the young waiter to get your share of the bill on your table and not barged into the cash counter and giving confusion in the minds of the cashier.

We are there to give you a satisfactory meal in a clean environment with efficient service and collect relevant price to provide the same and if the cashier is confused because some guest barged into the cashier counter and try to settle the bill individually, there will be a possibility that we lose the money for the total service given to the group of people.

I hope you will understand the management traits of doing business to everybody's satisfaction and please therefore next time don't get involved with any pleasant or unpleasant behaviour between the management and the staffs. You have nothing to do with it! If you are not satisfied with the food, service and environment you should then comment on the TripAdvisor and not any unpleasant remarks you heard between the staff and the management. It is a private matter and you should not get involved in the future. I hope you would take heed of our suggestion on this matter.

We however value your patronising our restaurant and hope to see you in our restaurant in your future visits and we will provide all services in totality to your satisfaction including a young lovely waiter service whether current one or a new one, depending on when you will be visiting us.

Cheers!

Tasty food, reasonable prices, clean, good service.
I thought that the poppadoms that were delivered to the table without being asked for were complimentary until they appeared on the bill - only a small charge but would prefer to be asked whether we wanted them

Dear Nancybe,

Thank you for patronising our restaurant and enjoying our tasty food, good service including the poppadoms. We Sarawakians adore the people from our neighbouring country, Australia. We have visitors on a daily basis to our restaurant for the past 20 years and enjoyed our hospitality, good food and good service including poppadoms. Nobody ever made any adverse comments on poppadoms enjoyed by Australian. We are at loss to understand that you taking on us for a few cents on a technical ground that neither you didn't order nor we did not ask the permission before this titbit was given to you.

As all Australian knows that it is an Asian style of hospitality of giving a condiment (Indian restaurants, Poppadom; Chinese restaurants peanuts and pickle cucumber and cabbage and Dayak & Malay restaurants, 'ulam') to enjoy while waiting for the main dish to arrive. These things one can normally enjoy by having a beer or other soft drinks.

All our food are prepared and cooked upon your order and as such there would normally be a waiting time of 10-20 minutes depending on what you order and the crowd preceding to your arrival. And as such, the poppadoms is a convenient way of passing your time and enjoy your dining experience. If it is an expensive item, certainly we would not serve you without being ordered. A poppadom costs 50 cent Malaysian equal to 15 Australian cents and as such we assumed that you can afford it when you are visiting another country. If you found that the item was obnoxious to your taste, you should have refused when it was delivered to your table.

I hope you would visit us again with an open mind and enjoy our hospitality including poppadoms. Maybe we will consider giving you complimentary poppadoms :)

Thank you. Cheers!

I have travelled all over and I can state this restaurant is one that you should visit if you are in the area. The food was ten out of ten. The service was the same and the atmosphere was good.

Thanks to the staff for a great experience.

A great place and the foods were very nice. During my visit in 2013, I saw a Halal logo on the menu, however, I didnt see any Halal certificate by JAKIM/ JAIS at the restaurant. To attract more muslim (for them to feel confidence) customers visiting to your place, it would be great if you display the Halal certification at the cashier or on the wall as well as on the restaurant's door. Thanks.
