“Good location and friendly staff”
Reviewed March 9, 2011

This small hotel is well located within easy reach of the waterfront, bars and restaurants and other in town tourist attractions. The rooms were comfortable and new albeit a little noisy if you are after an early night. The staff deliver a personalised service and this the main attraction of staying in this hotel over some of its bigger neighbours. Staff can help advise on attractions and places to eat etc if needed Breakfast was the only drawback as there was limited choice compared to bigger hotels so if you have specific requirements e.g vegetarian then I would let them know in advance. Overall a good hotel and would recommend to those looking for something a bit different.

Had a very good experience. Hotel is located in the heart of old Kuching town. with a walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Also agreed transport to Airport on the last morning was in time, with a guite new car and agood driver from hotel. All in one: The hotel is highly recomended.

The Batik Boutique Hotel is one of those hard to find hotels, where there are plenty of pros and no cons.
Summarizing is a fantastic hotel, worth 5 stars, with outstanding service that make you feel at home, with spacious, comfortable and clean rooms with all kinds of accessories that make your stay even better.

Going into detail, each and every one of the crew members who form the Batik, are excellent professionals while developing their tasks to perfection, overflowing education and sympathy. Its manager, reception guys, the girl attending the bar, housekeeping staff, chef, etc ... All of them get a family environment in Batik where one can breathe harmony and good vibrations.

Being a small hotel allows that the guests attention be much more direct and personal and Jackie, the Manager of the Hotel, puts the rest. With her devotion and sympathy makes that your stay in her Hotel and city are something special. Devotioned, prepared, friendly and always with a smile on her face makes a solution to any problem, advises, counsels, and shares her experience about the area and the country with a naturally and selflessly way. The entire team is infected by her attitude and enthusiasm, Jo-Lynn is a nice and cool person a part of the efficiency personified, the responsible for housekeeping, Keny the restaurant's chef, Rash ... In short, be worth be in this hotel only to live a few days with the "Batik family”.

Leaving aside the human side, the hotel has won first prize for architecture in Malaysia in 2010. And in our view, more than deserved. The hotel is designed with great taste and is careful to detail. Every chord and in line hotel style, from the corridors until the last corner. The rooms are large, very clean, bathroom with shower and bathtub. The rooms have air conditioning, iPod / iPhone, player and a free selection of the best coffees and teas and all kinds of accessories.

In addition, the hotel is located just across the river front so you do not need any extra transport to visit the city. And right next to the hotel is one of the best places to eat seafood from all over Borneo (ask at the hotel).

So, after having been on over 20 hotels during the last month in Malaysia and Singapore, we can state categorically that this is the best hotel we've stayed in these two countries and especially if we consider the quality / price ratio!

We stayed at Batik for 2 nights over Christmas 2010 and would highly recommend this hotel. It's small, personal, VERY well designed, and above all else, provided the best service I have EVER received at a hotel - anywhere. It should be cloned!

Batik will always be my abode of choice in Kuching. The crew are delightful and really make guests feel special and welcomed. No request was too difficult. I loved my room, which doubled as my office for three weeks. The location couldn't be better. The food in the attached Japanese restaurant is fabulous. I've told all my friends about Batik. I can't wait to return for a month in May.

I stayed at the batik boutique hotel for 3 nights, wonderful experience. The design of the hotel is beautiful and you can see in all details that the owner has travelled a lot so all you need is there. Not toomany frills but all very practical. The rooms are well designed, very original and well done. Wonderful bathroom, something I value very much when travelling. Last but not least: great breakfast, good and attentive staff. Defenitly worth staying!
