I agree with Nick147. I could live here. We found the Batik Boutique when in Kuching for my partner's business trip. His colleague stayed at the Hilton, but we thought that sounded like a terrible idea because it was more expensive and infinitely inferior to this friendly, gorgeous, brilliantly designed and elegant establishment. Staff were friendly, helpful, and entertaining. The rooms were gorgeous - great feel, great design, great facilities. Everything in old Kuching is within easy walking distance. Then they drove us to the airport themselves. So lovely.

Food was great, bar was relaxing and a lovely environment. I'm going back this weekend.

Room Tip: 'terrible' ratings for swimming pool and fitness centre are only because there is no pool or...

For $62 AUD this place is incredible. I'd much rather have the charm of this boutique hotel than the blandness of some corporate hotel for the same price. Where else can you get an almost personal concierge service, where the staff ask you what you want to see and do and then actually drive you there in the hotel car!

The room was beautifully modern an chic and the rain shower just what we needed after a week in a longhouse!

The downtown location means everything is within walking distance, museums, shops and restaurants.

Someone had reported that the street rooms were noisy. Certainly you can hear some road noise, but nothing that would wake you or be any more annoying than any city hotel.

Located in the very nice and interesting surrounding of the chinese quarter this fine little place is a cosy spot to explore Kuching. The staff is helpful and charming, the rooms are spacious and have all little amenities a good hotel should provide.
My seven year old son and I felt very well and recommend the batik boutique to every traveler who doesn't want to stay anonymously in a big, faceless hotel chain.

The helpful and knowledgeable staff were the highlight of this well-located boutique hotel. They were friendly, and among other things they helped organise tours, and were happy to recommend places to eat and things to do in Kuching.

We also appreciated: the free airport transfers, the lovely toiletries from a local company, the batik patterned robes, the historic walking map including tips on where to eat.

We stayed in a city facing room and although a little noisy, it wasn't as noisy as we expected and it didn't affect our sleep.

The only disappointment was the breakfast, which was just adequate. This may be because we only tried the Western breakfast options. In future we'd try the Malaysian options, or eat breakfast elsewhere.

Batik is a very nice hotel. However, even though we would happily stay here again, we didn't love it so much that we wouldn't consider staying elsewhere.

Batik Boutique has been my real home - being in Kuching for a longer time - and I loved staying there! It truly felt like home due to its incredible friendly, helpful and warm staff. They have taste and know where to go and where not to go. Besides, they're into exploring new things and keen to show you the hidden gems of Kuching theirselves. The hotel is classy, cute and everything has a special touch, with nice decors, colours and details everywhere. I Loved hanging out in their sweet little patio/garden which is as well a cool hanging out space to meet interesting people and enjoy great food. Batik Boutique hotel breathes a lot of the personality of its owner, Jacky, which makes this hotel a one of a kind; Classy Chic and Cosy with Wonderful Staff! Something you simply NEED to experience yourself...

Staff is very helpful at providing plans for your stay or can make arrangements as well. Room was spacious and fun decorated, although we did regret that we chose one without a window. Breakfast was small in size, good in quality.
They even brought us to the airport, which was very convenient. Where very happy that we chose this hotel!
