“Good Value for Money”

The best thing about having to stay there is the value for money! It's slap right in the city centre, the room is clean, service aren't the best as there are still lots of room for improvement. But other than Good Value for money and location.....
I do think that the room needs to be well lid and not too dim...
It gives me free internet access! which is GREAT for a business trip! :)

stayed 4 nights here for business trip. it currently runs a promotion with free internet and chance to win some electronic gadgets. i didn't win any but get a RM50 voucher, which i used for a fantastic lunch. Lunch doesn't have Salmon or Oyster, those familiar food that i am expecting from a 5 star hotel, but is decent. Do try the sarawak laksa and the panini salad, both i find to be nice.

the internet speed is really slow (internet speed test result: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1537396672.png), so i would think it is good to have it for free, but not really worth the money if i am charged for it.

i love the really big gym room with well kept equipment. it even has a big section enough for you to have an aerobic class with 30+ participants. there is also a jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath, and a half olympic size swimming pool, all i find well kept, cozy and well suited for business traveler.

one downside is perhaps due to the relatively new hotel, some of the staffs are pretty inexperienced but is not a big deal as they are courteous will try to get an answer from their superior. However, i do encounter a spoilt air condition system in my room, and it took the hotel 2 nights to solve it. And that is after i made 3 calls to them (the first time no one come, the second time a technican came, promised to fix it the next morning, but didn't show up the next day, the 3rd time another technician came, and eventually he fixed it another morning later). i can't accept the fact that the first and second time my problem gets ignored....

anyhow, overall i still think this is a good hotel to stay for business trip in Kuching. it is located on top of Hills, an upmarket shopping mall with Toyrus and Times bookstore, both i find the most interesting store i have found nearby. it is also pretty near to some city tourist hotspot, like the museum and water front, although i only love the museum

Room Tip: the room has a big window and have a very great panorama view for the sarawak river. my room is not...

Service is good, room is fine but could have been better if hotel provide full amenities in bathroom.

However, there is no WiFi access in the room, only LAN internet but for Mac Book Air user, it is very inconvenient as I can only use internet in the Lobby and the speed is unacceptably slow.

We stayed here twice. The first time we had a wonderful experience, with a beautiful deluxe room overlooking the city. We were taken back by the view. Everything was great. Newspaper delivered, internet access in room etc. On our return, even though we'd booked a deluxe room we were unable to have one and were put into a family room on the other side of the building. This was a bigger room, however, because we were there, we no longer got access to the internet, we did not get a newspaper in the morning, and even though we had paid more than the first 3 days we were there, it was not nearly as good. Based on our first experience rating would have definitely been 5 stars, but our return was disappointing.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms on a high floor are worth the extra.

Modern hotel with it's own cafe, bar and restaurant areas. Friendly and helpful staff. RM26 taxi from airport.

+ free wifi in lobby - ask for temp username/pw or use the two guest computers
+ service was excellent - helpful in giving us directions on where to take the bus to Bako NP and topspot food court
+ belllboy cecil was tremendously helpful, not only bringing our luggage up to our room but giving us a complete tour of the room including checking that the emergency torch and showing us, after some hesitation, 'mug' to which we politely pointed out 'i think it holds ice' aka the wine chiller. he also gave us directions to a great money changer place nearby.
+ 'Superior King Room' was spacious and had a nice bathroom area
+ great location, near topspot (hawker style food on L6 above carpark), close walk to riverside and above hills mall/shopping centre
+ free bag storage as we left our big bags while we spent a night at Bako NP before returning

- should have asked us whether we wanted a smoking or non-smoking room as we were given a smoking room and some of our clothes ended up smelling like smoke after our stay. on our second night, we were in a non-smoking room which was much better!
- breakfast buffet was expensive (in relation to local food prices) RM46/person and not that great quality or tasting. it did include a huge range of food of western and asian food from nasi lemak, egg chef, dim sums, fresh fruit, curry, pastries, cupcakes, sushi, cheese, meats, museli, cereal, toast and more.

Room Tip: ask for non-smoking if you are a non-smoker!

The Pullman Kuching was a pleasure to stay at from start to finish.

It is situated very centrally near the river and waterfront and as it is at the top of a hill has good views across Kuching. We were in a superior king room with a huge bed that was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Large floor to ceiling windows and a massive bathroom with both bath and shower were all lovely as were the fresh flowers and fruit awaiting us. Our room was very spacious as was the hotel which had a lobby the size of a small ballroom.

One of the joys was using the large swimming pool and jacuzzi at the end of a day visiting the rain forrest. The comfortable loungers and soft towels provided were very welcome at the end of a humid day in 35C heat.

The hotel staff were unfailingly polite and nothing was ever too much trouble.

We took a taxi from the airport at the start and the end of our stay that cost £6 and apart from visits to places like The National Park we were able to walk to many of the local sites from our hotel.

We found lots of fantastic places to eat and one of the best called Top Spot was right next door to the hotel. That cost less than £20 for a meal for 2 with beer and provided us with one of the best meals we ate in Malaysia and was outstanding value.. So good in face that we returned the very next night.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. The Accor website provides the best value when the room is booked in a package with the buffet breakfast, You will not need to eat again till dinner!!!.

a) Unlikely slowest connectivity at room using wifi system.
b) Wifi connectivity should be free or complementary during stayed at hotel. Totally unacceptable. Others 5 star hotel can give such offered even fastest during surfing.
