Its a very nice reservation and you can see the monkeys very closely. Unfortunately we entered to late so we spent not enough time there. All the time I was thinking how cool it be to be a volunteer there!

We visited in the morning and it did not disappoint we saw so many mothers and their babies. The reserve is well maintained and respectful, park rangers are very proud of their work.

We visited during the afternoon feeding and were lucky enough to see 8 orang-utans including two mothers with babies. The first three to arrive positioned themselves just metres from where we were standing and one ended up walking through our group and even followed us along one of the forest tracks. This was an amazing experience and one we will never forget.
The staff were friendly and we were impressed at how professional the whole operation was.
We caught the public bus (No.K6) which leaves from a bus terminus in a street near the front of the Plaza Merdeka shopping mall in Kuching. The air-conditioned bus costs 8myr return and drops you off at the entrance to the reserve. From there it is a 15-20 minute walk along a bitumen road to the feeding area.

This is a good place to see the orangutan in the wild - be warned there are no fences and they can be aggressive if they think you have food

We weren't quite sure what to expect but when we got there, we were treated to a close encounter with the amazing primates as they dined and trapezed around us. We were even treated to a rare sighting of the sanctuary's newest member - a 5 month old baby Orangutan! Worth a visit if you like primates.
