We have stayed at many different hotels in Kuching on various visits over the years and we were very happy to find this hidden GEM. We arrived just before midnight after long flight & overseas trip with 1 toddler and a 12 week old baby. We were met at the Airport by Brandon who transferred us to Basaga (25 rm for the transfer and worth it). We had prams, and over 6 bags so the help was worth it. On arrival we were promptly checked in and the staff moved our bags to our room which happened to be upstairs by the pool...so a bit of work for them and no problems and all smiles...Thanks Guys !

Check-in is a breeze and very friendly...the credit card machine must have been offline...so they were good and said fix it up in the morning when you get time...

The place is a very well done renovation of a big property and old school house with a colonial feel to it. Nice art work around the property, water fountains and under deck water and fish pond around the restaurant/bar area. The room we selected was a triple with a KS and Single bed and very spacious & comfortable for a family. The beds were clean, firm and comfortable. The room is not a Hilton, but very clean, well maintained. Small bar fridge for keeping things cold, complimentary bottled water each day, kettle, coffee & tea. Flat screen TV and basic wood style desk, chair and hutch to hang clothes. Shower is fine and pressure good. Room are promptly and correctly serviced each day and have a clothes dryer rack for wet clothes/towels.

The bar and restaurant are great and a cosy place to unwind at any time of the day/night. Reasonable selection of beer, wine and spirits. The food is a combo western & Asian offerings and good prices, quality and value.

It's well worth staying here for the local feel and great service that makes you feel at home. Enjoy the pool and the new deck they completed when we were there. The Spring Shopping centre is walking distance and the waterfront as well. Or juts grab a cheap taxi if raining or too hot. They also have a free shuttle to waterfront and arrange tours etc.

We travel a lot and would have no problem in highly recommending Basaga and it's great Team. We will be back !

I would definitely recommend Basaga to anyone traveling to Kuching. It is comfortable and upscale yet not overpriced. And the service is very good with friendly and informative staff. This is a small hotel so you can feel like you are being personally served. Not just one more customer for the night.

I have travelled to Kuching for the past three years and now that I've discovered Basaga, I won't go anywhere else. For me, it has the right blend of tranquility, comfort, and ambience at the right price. I will be bringing my young family here next year. The staff are exceedingly generous and very friendly. They will make you feel that you are a welcome guest! I look forward to coming back and spending more time in the refreshing pool.

Room Tip: I thoroughly enjoyed the added peace and quiet of the courtyard room on the back (away from the busy...

Having spent a very short time here as our group were just passing through, I found the room spotless, the staff extremely friendly and the food very good. Wish I could have stayed a little longer. Unfortunately we did not stay long enough to sample all that was on offer, like the spa or gym, but we did manage both beaches before bedtime. Reception may well have been overwhelmed by 17 of us turning up at once and I was a little disappointed that we were not offered any help with our bags. One member of staff however saw me struggling up the hill with mine and offered to help which I was very grateful for. The room was spotless and very comfortable though not suitable for young children due to the hight of the bungalow and the sloppy steps when wet. Overall though I was extremely satisfied and would definately book for a longer stay.

Room Tip: My friend and I upgraded our basic room and we were not disappointed, although we had to climb wet w...

I absolutely loved this guesthouse! Everyone is very friendly and will go out of their way to help you. It sort of felt like being a guest at somebody's home where the hosts look after you very well. The rooms were simple but comfy and clean. Air-conditioning and a ceiling fan were pleasant and necessary extras. I did not expect the place to have a swimming pool, but they did, and it was a nice surprise. The food was nice, the bar staff made you feel very welcome. I would definitely stay there again.

The most striking feature of Basaga for me is the service. Brandon was amazing gracious. Rooms clean & spacious. Nice to be staying somewhere with a bit of history as an old converted school. Would definitely stay here again.
