We stayed in Basaga at first three nights and a week later one more night with our family. We had a family room both time (different ones thou') which has connectiong poolside and courtyard rooms. Poolside comes with two single beds where as courtyard comes with a queen size. Both rooms have their own toilet and bathroom facilities, courtyard having a shower outside. Which we all loved and used :) Poolside has a minifridge and both rooms aircon AND a fan. Rooms were clean and in good condition. They are nicely and individually decorated. Absolutely a value for your money. Beds are very comfortable and sheets clean.

Service is excellent. First time they didn't have our booking which was made via hotels.com but as we could show it on our tabloit there was no problems checking in. All the staff was amazingly friendly and smiling all the time with Brandon the most welcoming and making sure your stay is all you want it to be.

Restaurant is also a good value. A small minus for the pasta but the rest was tasty and well cooked and cheap. Same goes with breakfast. And I loved my first (icecold) cider after missing it for all our so far 3 month travelling...

Pool is a bit small and there are sometimes quite many leaves which fall from the trees above. But they keep it as clean as possible by cleaning the pool daily when there are people using it. And our kids loved diving the leaves from the bottom. :) What we really missed on the pool was good sunchairs. There was only four, far from each others and a bit dated already.

Wi-Fi is free but has some problems in operating. Didn't work perfectly in the room and was jammed also in the lubby sometimes. Then again, this seems to be quite normal in Borneo.

Warmly recommended place!

Awesome hotel, really friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Was brilliant that the hotel could sort out everything from airport transfers to day trips and had a great restaurant to eat in... pretty much provided everything from under one roof. Will definitely use it again!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool side room (preferably on the ground floor if you have a big bag - though staff are al...

I have stayed in Kuching five times this year while exploring Borneo. I stayed at Basaga three times based on the trip advisor reviews and cost but have now switched my preference to the gateway hotel near the waterfront for the same price Basaga is just not located well within Kuching for any meaningful function: you have to depend on the infrequent shuttle or "taksi's" to get to the waterfront, there are no nearby stores to get supplies or munchies (20 mIn walk to nearest mall), no laundry except the hotels outrageously priced service, no restaurants other than Basaga (albeit it is good). We we're essentially trapped. If your only spending a day or two and can organize your schedule around the shuttle it would be a good choice. But if your planning to spend most of your time in the busier waterfront district, eat at Top Spot or other top restaurants, or get reorganized for your next excursion (like we did) then there are better located hotels with good service, higher standards, and lower cost.

Room Tip: make sure they put you in the newer addition across the courtyard. The old section is in need of re...

I stayed here with a group of friends and it was awesome. The rooms are spacious and very clean.Restaurant and surroundings are excellent. Only downside was the noise from the nearby roads. Food in the restrnt was good.Stayed here for the rainforest festival and loved the place. Its very comfortable and you will want something like this when ur back from a tired day of sight seeing. It was more like home than a hotel.Only thing is its pretty far from the festival site and also the town so unless you have your own/rented car staying here is not a good option. We rented our own car so getting around was no problem at all.We actually got an upgrade to a better room upstairs of the main house.dunno hw the poolside rooms are but the ambience is superb escp at nite.Good for couples and group stays.Laundry service is available and its done well.

Room Tip: Main house rooms upstairs are very good.but once the balcony is open or ur out in the patio its pret...

Decent enough hotel. Food reasonably priced for the area and excellent compared with other restaurants. The staff very friendly and helpful. A little out of town but the hotel supplied a free bus shuttle to town, about 5 or 10 mins away. Nice pool but suffered from receiving a daily dose of fallen leaves. Beer expensive. One beer 18 RM, but I am comparing with Cambodia, so I guess cheap compared with Australia.

Stayed in the veranda rooms with family and friends

++++
Beautiful setting in tropical gardens
Good restaurant with western and local dishes and outdoor seating
Nice pool to cool down after day trips
Clean big rooms with common veranda to chill out (upstairs rooms)
Staff at reception provide friendly and efficient service

------
Too many mosquitos outdoors.. need mosquito spray handy
Bathrooms have minimal fittings.. could be better
Breakfast is good.. but, not much selection of fruits and fresh juices

Room Tip: Choose upstairs veranda rooms in the poolside building

Really enjoyed my stay here and can highly recommend it to anybody visiting Kuching. The pick up from airport was good. Is not too far from the river front and city and we walked in to the city from here. The food in the restaurant was really nice and the local dishes were excellent also. Staff were very friendly. It is situated in the middle of a city but it does not have the city feel to it as it has a lot of trees around it that block out the city. This was my first visit here but it was my sisters second visit and we will defintly be back.

Room Tip: The wooden floors must make it noiser for the people below but we had an upstairs room so go for ups...
