“Am I sleeping in the middle of a moto race?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

Very loud. We had room 315 & it sounded as if there were moto races outside of our window that went on past 1 AM.
Rooms are small but clean. Staff helpful & friendly. This is a VERY Kid-Friendly hotel. They're everywhere. Wifi is good. Breakfast was varied & plentiful.

Dear sugarpie241,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your stay at our hotel. Our team had the pleasure of serving you and we are glad to learn that our breakfast and free wi-fi internet access had met your expectations.

We would like to apologise for the discomfort experienced from the noise disturbance as mentioned; we later discovered that the window of your room was faulty, leaving a gap through which noise may pass through. We have since further enforced sound dampening for the said window and we will constantly observe this matter. I am glad to know that once our Front Desk had been notified of this issue, a room change was arranged immediately for your stay.

It is through feedback like yours that we can monitor our standards of service, discover areas to improve and understand our guests better. We thank you again for your review and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future. In the meantime, wishing you safe travels!

Best regards,

Julie Tay - Resident Manager

Based on reviews of others on Tripadvisor we selected the Lime Tree for our stays at Kuching. We stayed there three consecutive times within a span of 2 weeks with our 2 sons. The hotel is well located, not very far from the river. Rooms are simple but clean and the hotel has a small restaurant where also breakfast is served at the ground floor. You also can find a small shop there. The roof-top terrace is a nice play to go for a drink in the evening. The staff is extremely helpfull and friendly. We did not regret a single day to have selected this hotel. Free internet is available

Room Tip: Take a room at the back . These rooms are very quiet.

Stayed here for 2 nights in February 2014. The location is ideal as it is nearby to many restaurants and shops. The breakfast that is included is simple and the quality is good.
Our room is comfortable and clean.

This is a cute little middle-of-the-road type of hotel that makes itself stand out with its lovely staff and quirky theme - everything is lime. The colour scheme is blonde wood and green, the shower gel is lime scented, the welcome drink is lime and soda, the gift shop is full of lime products, you can buy a bag of limes at reception and even the dessert is lime cheesecake (which is really good!).

We stayed in a deluxe room (so we had a window). They're fairly small but scrupulously clean and well-designed to be fully functional. The bathroom is a reasonable size and nice modern design. On our return stay we were upgraded to an executive deluxe room which was pretty much the same except it was much larger, had an armchair and an in room safe. I'd choose it over the regular deluxe room if possible.

Breakfast was included with the room. There was a decent selection that was well-presented and fresh. The downstairs cafe is bright and cheerful and food arrives promptly. The rooftop bar has a nice view of the river a few blocks away and is a pleasant spot in the early evening.

This is not in the same league as the Hilton or Pullman but I don't think it claims to be. It is a well organized place even at the booking stage with prompt email response to questions.
What i like
1. A reasonably priced pick up and return service to the airport. There can be a Kuching element to timing so don't assume a booked time will happen exactly as requested but the delay is usually not more than 10 - 15 minutes - this also goes for tours organized by the hotel.
2. The staff and indeed people in Kuching generally are very friendly, helpful and relaxed.
3. The hotel is bright (lime colored bright) and clean.
4. The deluxe rooms are a good size, with good size bathrooms equipped with a small refrigerator, the family rooms also have a microwave oven and the bathroom has a bath tub while the deluxe rooms have a shower but a good walk in size.
5.Prices for drinks and food are very reasonable and not that much above street prices. The roof top bar is pleasant but smoking is permitted at least on the terrace area and the locals do seem to smoke a lot

The not greats
1 Noise from within and outside. I could hear noise from the room below and several rooms away on the same floor. The best rooms (size) face the main road and the motor bikes in particular are really noisy.
2. Some things didn't like the phone and air con temperature control and there was duct tape around the window frame but still the ambience of the room was still pleasant. I only had a glimpse of the inside rooms but they look very pocky with almost no natural light but they may be quiet.
3. The location is OK but on the fringe of town so it is not right in the riverfront downtown precinct which some people may prefer. Kuching appears very safe so walking the relatively short distance to town at any time is not an issue.

.

Room Tip: If you don't like night noise avoid rooms facing the main street (the side street is better) and...

We stayed here as a couple for 4 nights at the beginning of March. We both felt that the friendly staff and excellent service made it stand out from other places we stayed whilst travelling around Borneo and beyond.

This hotel is clean, modern, simple and comfortable. It is in a great location about a 10 minute walk from the waterfront. They have a lovely cafe which sells cheap, delicious, fresh meals on the ground floor and a nice rooftop bar which was a relaxing place, both of them have brilliant service. I think it is nice that at the end of a busy day trip you can relax, eat and drink in the hotel if you are too tired to go out whereas in some hotels you just want to get out of there.

It is easy to book day trips from the hotel, they have a comprehensive list of tours available which they give you when you check in and there is also a shuttle bus service to the airport, waterfront etc which we made use of and were reliable. The reception staff were extremely helpful when it came to any queries we had contacting local tour operators etc.

We would not hesitate to come back if we visited Kuching again.

We stayed here for 6 nights at the beginning of March. The lime tree is fantastic in every way the staff are so friendly it's in a great location and the rooms are great. The roof top bar is a great place for a drink and to watch the world go by. And it's nice and close to top spot food court as well.
