Our hotel recommended Top Spot and what a spot on recommendation. We had left Singapore without having chili crab and here was my chance to make good. The food court was buzzing and there was a huge choice of places to eat from. There is a massive sitting area in the middle with basic seats and tables. So not a place for a quiet romantic meal. Seeing our indecision a friendly eater recommended stall number 25 which was one with tanks of fish, crabs and other sea food. We duly went there and the serving lady was extremely helpful recommending the amounts to choose and cooking styles to give a nice balance of flavours (apart from chili crab which was a given). It was delicious - and so cheap which made me happy twice over!

When you hit Kuching for the first time, you just wonder where to eat for the first night. After reading our guidebook and TA, we went to Top Spot and that we never regret. We took a short walk around, and were invited to sit down, by one of the friendly, smiling hawkers. We choose from the menu, added 2 Big Tigers( 34 ringits) and had a fantastic meal, with squid, mussels, fresh fish and some vegetables. What a great start of our Malaysian holiday.
We ender up paying 65 ringits, and could have done much cheaper, but food will not be the biggest post on your budget.

We walked around for a while before we found this place - seems to be "hidden" by a car park. Anyway - go to the 6th floor (ignore the signs that say 5th floor) and a gastronimc expereince awaits you!!

We were told of the Top Spot Food Court by our guide - there is no way we would have known about it otherwise and were even then a bit dubious about whether it really was on the top floor of a multi storey car park! The whole place was buzzing with all the restaurant outlets around the edge and tables of varying sizes taking up the rest of the open air floor. Fortunately the rain had stopped! Smart it is not, authentic yes. We appeared to be the only Europeans frequenting the food court and the clientele was made up of Asian families, couples, friends etc all out to enjoy the wonderful food and company. We had prawns, fish, calamari, lobster, vegetables and the best egg fried rice ever for around £9 in total. We couldn't believe how cheap it was. The dishes were served in a bit of a disjointed order and we soon learnt to just eat whatever came before it got cold. We had ordered chilli, garlic crab which defeated us as it wasn't crab as we know it with big claws etc. When clearing the table the waitress did ask if we hadn't liked it and offered to show us how to eat it but we were completely full at that point. We went twice during our visit and thought it amazing.

I was there 2 times this summer! The food is excelent, the paradise for fish lovers.
But is not only this, the location is kitsch but is an incredible experience to stay there. Watching the faces of people... families friends couples everyone! Is the place where to eat in Kuching!
