“Run Down Hotel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

Stayed here during the Rainforest World Music Festival 2012. not a charming place. although they had just completed some of the renovation and added a new lobby at the new wing, the hotel room blocks are all run down. there are holes everywhere in the ceiling. rotting watermark spots in the ceiling. poor paint job.

Thank god the hotel rooms are all using wooden floor. if not, it will be stained smelly carpets too.

Despite its unpleasant upkeep, i still did had a good nights rest. the beds are still clean and comfortable. but bathrooms not so clean. bathtub was stained with rust. edges of the showers and sinks are stained with moss.

This hotel really needs a major makeover.

This hotel lived up to all the negative reviews. The room was old and musty, the facilities tired and worn. The location is a long 20min walk to the beach at Damai. Overall it has the impression of a college dorm.

We stayed here during the rainforest world music festival - which is great - and it was simply the cheapest place available near the festival. Everything during that time is overpriced and the other options are just as run down. Disappointing given that the festival itself was well run and great value.

Don't be that impressed by the new big airy modern empty lobby, the rest of the hotel is a bit shabby. Rooms acceptable but need maintenance badly, probably nice 5 years ago, or whenever it was built, but general neglect has left it a bit run down. The breakfast was awful to say the least, the egg station being its only saving grace, and one morning he knocked off early and just left a pile of cold fried eggs and scrambled to one side. The receptionists were badly trained and a bit dormant. The chalet that we rented and shared with a couple of our friends had a nice view of the golf-course and sea/ beach, and sitting on the balcony listening to birds and waves and having a few beers was very pleasant indeed. Struggling to wrench the patio doors open and the hanging-off-the-wall -plug-sockets were downsides. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms generous, the jacuzzi that had a sign to inform that this only functioned as a bathtub, was a disappointment. We stayed during the Rainforest World music festival, and I'm not sure the place was worth the inflated price, maybe it would feel better value for money at an off season price.

What a dump. The resort is in a terrible state. Food is really bad. I think staff stole my watch and I got a rash from the pool.

Stayed at One Hotel during Rainforest Music Festival. The hotel staff were generally pretty friendly & the rooms were a little worn but spacious. Nice gardens & good transport to & from Festival. Downside being meals other than breakfast [which was part of tariff] cost triple what they were at any comparable food outlet, & sometimes not as good. Rooms feel like they could use a freshen up. I would stay there again over the 3 days, but would book at least 6 months in advance to get the off season price. I paid approx AUD$70.00 per night. A lot of the performers stay at One Hotel so I chatted with various interesting personalities at breakfast. Being an aging hippy I looked a lot like them so I got preferential treatment, which I graciously accepted.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms easier on the legs if carrying bags. Other guests hooning in late at night [3 a.m...

I have my stay for 2D1N at this resort on Day1 of CNY2012.
Satisfy:
Big rooms.
Big washrooms
Breakfast menu
Location of the rooms is not too far from the lobby
Enough car park space
Room services is good
Friendly people.
Swimming pool is big
Unsatisfied:
Smelly bedsheet & pillow.( The rooms are not occupied for quite some time I guess, the smell of the wood+wet season...make me hard to sleep.)Suggestion: At least open up the windows for the rooms in advance so that there is air blowing in when the peak season is coming)
Noisy fridge
Fan & aircon ( seems like no aircon until is pass midnight).Luckily the day I when, the weather is good ( windy)
