Rooms and restaurant were clean. Helpful front desk staff. Flaky internet. Good breakfast, acceptable food at Hunter's cafe. Good location - opp mall/foodcourt, Little Italy restaurant, walking distance to Jesselton Point (boats). Rooms were very small - esp. for a family of 4.

Room Tip: Central, clean, expensive in a way (for small room size).

We cashed onto Malaysia Tourism Board's offer of Air + Land package of 4 nights and 5 days for Rs. 36000, with two nights each in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu. Though we had arranged airport pickup, there was no car in sight or arrival. Contacting hotel was of no use, since they informed us that they do not arrange pick up from Airport. Seemed travel agent had outsourced the task to a local taxi service. We checked into Best (?) Western Kinabalu Daya Hotel with the expectation that it would live upto our expectations of a member of Best Western chain. To say that we were disappointed would be an understatement. Location of the hotel is good, but surprisingly it has only four (superior) rooms per floor (at either end of corridor, with a window opening towards road)! Rest of the rooms are either windowless or have windows which open in corridors, hence curtains have to be always drawn! Room size is rather small for a Best Western hotel. So our request for two adjacent 'superior' rooms could not be accommodated and we had to split into two room at either end of corridor, with 4-5 rooms in between. Maintenance Dept. at hotel was found wanting when flush in one room was not working. Shower caps had to be asked for. There were enough DIY tea/coffee sachets in the room. Breakfast was okay, but repetitive even for two day stay. All in all, the hotel turned out to be less than our expectations. We believe better hotels are available in vicinity, perhaps in similar room tariff range.

Room Tip: If you are ready to pay its tariff, look for better hotels in the vicinity. Look for superior room.

We 7 persons stayed 4 nights on 18 Oct to 22 Oct 2013 in this hotel.

Pro:
1. Location is centraly located. 10 mins walk to Philipino market, Handicraft market (next to Philipino market) & another 5 mins walk you can go to Waterfront (next to Handicraft market). Near to Gaya Street (Sunday market) only 5 mins walk. Near to Signal Hall only 15 mins walk. 15 mins walk to Jeselton Jetty Terminal this is where we go to Mamutik & Sapi Island jetty.
2. The staff of this hotel are helpful with a smile.
3. Breakfast is simple but the fried noodles sometimes are salty.

Cons : 1. The 1st night I already suspect the bed sheet have bug room number 401. Last day after my sister sleep at my bed she also suspect there are bed bug, she got rash on leg & back.

2. The housekeeping of this hotel only change bed sheet, towel & didn't clean the bath room floor & basin is still dirty.

3. My father room is 405 which have air-conditioner problem. 1 day totally not working & antoher day it is working.

4. My aunty room 408 the door lock can not lock from inside.

Room Tip: Choose higher floor

The hotel is so centrally located that you can walk to any of the major shopping malls in kota kinabalu city. The upside is not just the location but the free wifi and breakfast, but the room size is quiet small and old. Therefore the main advantage is the location location and location but nothing else.

Staff are friendly and helpful and trying to make do under terrible conditions.

We asked for our room to be changed a few times but eventually gave up and settled for a room that had water damage on the walls, yellowed sheets and a tiny window that looked out onto a tin roof. The smell coming from the bathroom was also dreadful.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel

Location is very good with many eateries around . Near markets and malls. Rooms ok but small and bathrooms not upto BW standards.

Lifts are very slow. Staff constantly tell u they are fixing wifi but nothing ever happened, just the same story.

Breakfast ok.

We stayed 2 nights here from 4 - 6 October..
The room is just nicely cleaned and have all the basic requirements...
We were having problem with A/C on the first day, so we were been upgraded to another room on following day ...
We found it comfortable, clean and the staff are really friendly...
As this hotel is located in the middle of town, an easy walk to markets, shops and malls nearby...
breakfast was really good...

Overall, worth paying for the location and food ...
