It was a great hotel in the best location of KK city, facing the sea. It was close to the seafront esplanade with many food outlets and night market (but the whole area was disappointing as the whole place smelled of dead rotten waste food - very unhealthy air indeed. The seafood there was expensive too as compared to the city's seafood center (25% cheaper) located opposite the city's main shopping center called center-point). The hotel is also near to the free bus pick-up point to the brand new 1-Borneo hyper-mall shopping center, where prices of everything is lower.

We had one of Star-wood preferred guest rooms. The room has nice view of the sea and the mountains. Room and toilet are clean. Room service was a little tardy. Two of the pillow cases were not changed, and they took 1 hour (after a 2nd reminder) to come and change them. Everything else, including the front desk, were pretty good.

Meridien was an excellent choice in KK. . great rooms overlooking the Filipino Market and the sunsets over the South China Sea were great.

Room was large, free internet in rooms, around the pool and in the lobby. Rooms were wired, other areas were wifi.

Lobby restaurant was excellent. huge breakfast buffet. The restaurant was celebrating the food of Malaysia in May at the evening buffet. Quite varied and some good entrees.

Mr Ash, the concierge, waited for me to present travel plans I had prearranged, even though he was off-duty.

No need for airport transfers. .ATM outside Customs in next to Fixed Price Taxi service. Pay 20 MYR and take the coupon and give it to the driver-- you are off.

Also found a great laundry two short blocks behind the hotel, Mega Laundry--did 4 1/2 kilos of clothes for 19 MYR, 1 MYR more than the hotel wanted for a pair of jeans.

Lots of food choices available on the boardwalk across from the hotel. Starbucks in next block. and two McDonald's within two blocks.

A great place to stay to enjoy Sabah.

Hotel needs a bit of maintenance (paint chipped, vacuuming is average etc...), but pool area is nice and breakfast buffet is good (though it closes at 10am). Asking for a taxi can result in the concierge staff getting you a private taxi which costs double the price (even if you continue to ask for a normal taxi) and they can be a bit slow/disorganised a breakfast but it seems the nicest hotel in the centre of KK and very convenient for pickups if you scuba dive etc...

Overall we had a great stay at the Le Meredian. We booked a last minute trip for the labour weekend and got a good deal. The pool is great and has good views of the sunset. Breakfast is also delicious. The only negative thing I would say is that it has a business hotel feel more than leisure hotel.

i choose the hotel because it situated near food market, night market and warisan square mall, the room is okay but we're given single bed, luv the amenities so refreshing, most i like is the room is clean and cozy. my son had a very great time playing around the spacious room. the swimming pool is not so big but it okay for me, in the night they turn the candle in the lobby and make it so romantic.

Arrived from the airport which is only about a 15 min taxi ride away. Paid for taxi, 20MR with a voucher pre done at the airport counter, just as you leave the arrivals hall to the right.

Booked a Club King sea facing room inc of b/fast. On arrival met by porters then taken to the club floor reception on the 12th floor by a member of staff. check in quick with a cold drink. First impressions of the club lounge were good. I liked the layout with plenty of seats (leather sofas and large chairs) but the view was something else...... fantastic overlooking the sea, wonderful.......but please Le M clean the windows! Here is a USP for the hotel and the windows onto this fab view are filthy!

Room on the 11th floor, as mentioned before the rooms are large and spacious, and we had again the view (but with also the filthy windows). All the bits and bobs, flat screen TV (it was never switched on!), safe, mini bar (which kept everything very cold, makes a change) iron etc. Lots of hanging space, furnished in a traditional Le M fashion, The King bed was a little soft for my liking but the quilt and pillows were very comfy. Air con was quite cold and eventhough turned up to 28dg it was still chilly in the room.

Let down by the bathroom though, it is quite a good size with sept shower/bath (which had rust chips) but was badly in need of a deep clean. Tiles in the shower were not as clean as should be with the previous guests soap wrapper left in the corner (removed after 2 days) with long hairs at the outlet. Floor tiles had sticky stains and when I wiped part af the floor it was very dirty. Toilet not flushed from previous guest (??) and the seat was loose. This was reported, and asked for the floor to be cleand thoughly (3 times) still waiting.... Towels, although plenty of them, some had seen better days and really should not of been used. Shampoo etc plenty of and nice to have a bottle of mouthwash. 2 bottles of water left in both the bathroom and bedroom each day.

The Club lounge food was just ok, left out uncovered for a long time with no refrigeration. Selection of drinks fine and passed the G&T test....needed more tonic with the Gin! Good coffee made fresh. And of the fab view....did i mention that...

B/fast taken downstairs liked the selection, quite good for a buffet. It was nice to get a cafetiere of coffee per person instead of just a cup.

Did not manage to get to swim in the pool but it did look good, to many other things to do!

There is a bar called Rumba or somthing like that, part of the hotel, drink prices good (esp happy hour) and there was a band on, but to many reserved tables.

All in all the hotel is in a good location for getting around, taxis just outside and there is a free shuttle bus to 1 Borneo, the new shopping mall (if thats your thing) just to the side of the hotel next to Guardian. Plenty of food/drink places around the area catering for all tastes. And although it can get a little whiffy on the harbour side its worth the sunset view. And its a set 20Mr back to the airpot by taxi

Staff, like everywhere, so very good and some so-so but on the whole thought the staff were very good, and will stay again on our next visit to KK.

Hope they have cleaned the bathroom and the windows by then......
