This hotel is very nice. The price was good and we had a great room (1115) overlooking the bay which was stunning at sunset. The room was huge and very comfortable and the service very good.
But the pool was just an ordinary pool on the second floor; the hotel restaurant was just an ordinary restaurant!
This was all OK but nothing memorable....

But the seafood at the eating complex just down the road on Jalan Laiman Diki was to die for. And the visits to Sapi Island and the other islands were fantastic.

Room Tip: Spend the extra few dollars and get a room with a sea view. It is well worth it

We spent 3 nights here on arrival in Kota Kinabalu. We did especially book a sea view room and we were not disappointed. It was so entertaining watching the activity on the waterfront and on the water. This hotel is very centrally location and you can walk to most things around the city. The buffet breakfast would have to be the most extensive I have ever seen - you name they had it!! The only negative comments I have were the beds weren't the most comfortable nor supportive and pillows were either too soft or hard for me, but that's my personal opinion. Staff were generally very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If you want entertainment go for a sea view.

After a long journey, we were excited to be staying at the Le Meridian. We arrived at about 9:30PM and were crestfallen when we were shown to our room. We immediately noticed a damp musty smell in the room and got the general impression that the room had seen better days. All the things you don't expect from Le Meridien -
Stains on the ceiling
Mould in the shower
Mysterious stains on the carpet and light fittings
Towels and Linen with an odd chlorine smell

While disappointed, we were exhausted so we just went to bed.
The bed seemed very worn and creaky, and sagged in the middle, clearly a bed that had seen too many guests. We didn't sleep well.

The next morning we raised these concerns and asked to see other rooms. The staff were really professional and helpful, and did move us to a room that smelled fine and had a slightly better bed. That said, the room still wasn't up to scratch. It wasn't a nice place to come back to at the end of a long day. Frustrated with the old stained pillows we ended up just buying our own from a local department store for the week.

This isn't a Le Meridien and shouldn't charge Le Meridien prices. Don't be fooled by the opulent lobby, the rooms ring more of a Holiday Inn, the beds of a by-the-hour motel.

A corporate booking was made for me for 29 and 30 Sept at this hotel. However, I was just informed that a mix up occurred thereby no room on 30th. The galling thing was that the hotel did not want to take responsibity for this. I am thinking that because this was a discounted room rate, it was convenient for them just to issue the room to another customer. Bad move cause this is how you can lose future clientele.

Fairly priced- for the large sized rooms. Not particularly notable in room decor. A clean, spacious lobby. Comfort depends on luck with neighbors; there's minimal sound- proofing. A full-service hotel.
Should be renamed a Sheraton; since it's owned by Starwood.

This hotel was such a delight to discover after having spent time in a far inferior place (against my wishes and better judgment) for four days, in another part of Borneo, like walking into paradise! The lobby was beautiful and beckoning, the staff courteous and professional, the water views calming, and then there was the room- what a pretty room, luxurious, practical and comfortable, and a gorgeous, well-appointed bathroom, too. The location cannot be beat either- right across the street from the impressive night market- where the array of fresh fish was sizzling and looked mouth watering, and the tastes far surpassed the expectations, Delicious! Wow! And so ridiculously easy on the pocketbook. The other food was excellent, too- the fresh and fragrant fried rice, the tasty, nourishing noodles with vegetables, and the dessert / drink to beat all others- Cendol...Yum... And all of this on the waterfront directly in front of the hotel. And just across the street from the side of the hotel, was another night market- where costume jewelry and othe sundry items were sold. I did all my gift shopping for the girls back home while here (yes, I am mean ladies). Bracelets and rings and earrings- fun and fabulous looking... I wear a diamond ring and other precious stones now, nobody says anything, I wear my shell/bead ring (for which I paid about $1.60= 5 MYR) and everyone stops me to comment on how pretty it is and where did I get it....Something else Ioved about the hotel? The pool that you can do laps in, and the fitness center with a good sauna. And must not forget the very helpful tour desk. Found someone for me to do a tour with twice (I was travelling alone, and they have a minimum of two people), and the tours were good, and they managed to book the days and times I wanted. Kudos all around.... Terima kasih Le Meridien, Kota Kinabalu!

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view.

My wife & I stayed from 24-Sept 2012 to 28-Sept-2012 at room 909 (still staying there while writing this comment)

1.Room 909
-Both power socket outlet at the desk was not working.
-Bathroom is filled with huge water spots on the floor due to poor bathroom floor construction & it's very uncomfortable to be in the bathroom.

2-Staff
We complained to the staff & ask for different room but instead of offering to solve the problem she ask us to pay more to upgrade to another room. We understand that maybe there is a problem with room availability but the least she could do to is ask the technician to fix the power socket outlet.

Other than that, the hotel is ok. Great location and quite clean.

Will post some picture later.
