Nice hotel with a good breakfast buffet. The jetty is only 10 minutes away walking distance and takes you to islands like mamutik. The pool was nice al though is smells from the fishingharbor that is just beside the hotel. It is very nice to go look at the market in the evening though but during the daytime it smells a bit ( but you get used to it). Close to 2 shoppingcenters. Try to chose a room with an oceanview. The view takes your breath away everyday!

We were disapointed with the oulook of the islands. They were all filled with tables and banquet-looking chairs and didnt fit the atmosphere of the island at all. It just felt over crowded and filled with crap.

Room Tip: all the tourguides are closed on sundays and most of saturday so make your tour reservation before t...

We took a sea view room, at the 14th floor then due to technical problem, we moved to 11th floor, nice view from both rooms. Nice view, especially during sunset. The staffs are friendly. The room was recently renovated about 2 years or less.... Spacious with open concept. The hotel room has sliding door to seperate bathroom & bedroom, made of wood, sometime a bit tricky to use it! Location was great, next to Merdeka Mall, walking distance to the newly open Suria Sabah Mall.... During our stay, we encountered with technical problem but the staffs responded well & took fast action. If you want to buy frozen seafood, the shop is just in front of the hotel. Plenty restaurants around like Burger King, KFC, local restaurants...and in the Merdeka Mall there is the Coffee Bean that open early to serve breakfast, and you can get free wifi there since the hotel charges for the internet connection. About 5-10 minutes walk to the local handicraft market (Philippines Market). The jetty is just in front of the hotel. People said that the night & Sunday Market are just around the corner, but we didn't have the chance to visit. We tried the buffet breakfast, it was good. We also went to the swimming pool... although it was a bit small, but it was beautiful. Overall we enjoyed our stay there...

Room Tip: Seaview room higher floor will be beautiful...

I stayed at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu about 3 years ago and while I felt it was value for money, I wasn't very impressed with the worn rooms. This trip, having heard about the recent renovation, I decided to take a peek and came away impressed with the recent done ups. We ended staying 2 nights there. A lot more thought and class has been injected and the room looked a lot more inviting than my last stay 3 years ago.

Over the past 3 years, some positive developments have made the Hyatt location even more attractive. For one Suria Sabah puts one of the biggest shopping malls in KK at the door step of Hyatt. With all the eateries, night markets and other smaller shopping malls nearby, this positions Hyatt well as an ideal place to explore the city from.

Seafood tip - Just across Suria Sabah is a nice air conditioned seafood restaurant called Portsview Grand. Our family of 5 had a great 8 course seafood dinner for RM180 which included steamed fish, crab, prawn, beef etc......+ a bottle of beer.

It was with much contemplation when I decided to stay at the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu during my recent vacation to Sabah. I had a very bad experience with the Hyatt Regency in Kuantan but I decided to go ahead due to the mostly positive reviews on Tripadvisor and other review sites. I am glad to report that my stay at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu was a wonderful experience.

The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but the room was spacious and quite tastefully decorated. The art pieces, glowing bathroom counter and the recessed wall for the TV with the ambient lighting were nice touches. However the one unique feature that I enjoyed the most was the rain shower in the bathroom.

One minor gripe is that there is no wifi internet in the room. There is wired internet but I was using a tablet.

The hotel is located next to the waterfront and in the heart of the city. It is a short walk to the night market and handicraft market located along the waterfront. It is also a stone throw from Gaya street which is transformed into a street market on Sunday. Just a little further away but still well within walking distance are the Suria Sabah shopping mall and Jesselton Point, where you can catch the ferries to the nearby islands.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms have a great view of the sea but I believe some of the rooms face into the atrium...

My husband and I visited the Hyatt Regency for three nights, skipped one night to climb Mount Kinabalu, and returned to the Hyatt for two more nights. It was absolutely scrumptious to wallow in the luxury and comfort of the Hyatt bedroom after the exertion of the long ascent to the summit. In both bedrooms the sea views were magnificent. The change in the quality of the light throughout the day including the brilliant sunsets, and the intense boat activity between the shore and the islands of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park were more captivating than any TV show!

What the point calling one a seaview room without nice vision. It's partly blocked by the roof. And that's no sofa seat at the lobby!
