Secondtime travel to here, it was really a great place. Enjoy the warmed welcome fom Elizaberth, she was friendly and helpful. We upgraded room to enjoy the club lounge in Kinabalu wing, however it was really SUCKS for the service provideded there. Most of the staff in CL was nt friendly. One of it name- Vanessa even worst, i was here now the 3rd day, never see her smile. We asked her where is the glass, she told us glass is in the refrigerator =.= and the next day a lay was asking her the same question, the answer the lady get was the same as me. And I help the lady to get her glass. Is it we suppose to know they hv keep their glass in refrigerator? They stated 6.30am open til 11pm, was once hskp is still cleaning up my room so we decided to wait for our room to b done at CL, we were they unattended for almost 15 mins, i asked one of the staff there can we hv some drinks she show me a shoking face like i m not suppose to b here at this hour. They rather hide some where behind and make the CL look like closing. Most of the time we pass by,it really look like nt operating. Eventhough there are some bad experience, however we still enjoy the services povided by others staff in Shang expecially in Peppino, food was perfect, wine they intro is superb, staffs there are execellent!! Is really like a big family, thanks to Rideon, Fify, Felicity and others staff in peppino!!! And we really impressed by their nice voice, they sing well^^ Sunset bar Roy and AG is great and fun~ oh ya, thumbs up for hskp staffs too, their service was fast and attentive!! Everything was just so nice here!!

Room Tip: Must try Peppino! And dont forget to enjoy a ice sunset view at Sunset bar!

We stayed here for a relaxing 5 nights after staying in 2 other hotels around Malaysia. It was our honeymoon and we arrived to champagne, rose petals, cake and beautiful swan towels on the bed. The room was absolutely beautiful and the executive suite was definitely worth the extra money. The breakky area (for executive rooms) was great because you could order from menu rather than all buffet. And the drinks/canapés from 5-7 were obviously fantastic. The spa is a lot more pricey than others around KK but treated myself on the last day and it was worth every cent, the separate spa areas are so special and really private. The food at Peppino's was delicious. The staff were lovely and so helpful. The reflexology by the pool, water aerobics, choice of nightly oil scent for turn down service - all the little touches make this place that much better. On the last night they set us up a beaitiful balcony dinner and we got room service up there, it was lovely. We really couldn't fault this hotel to be honest and we already want to go back.

we had a short three night stay at the end of september. we had booked a seaview club room and we were not disappointed. the view was outstanding. we ate at coco joes on one evening of our stay. was a bit disappointed that the starter i wanted was finished we settled for the garlic bread. It was excellent. we both went for the australian grain fed steaks. these were so tender . also the sweet i fancied was sold out. the sweet i chose was good. this meal was a treat. the club lounge in the evening was fantastic drinks were good and readily available. there was plenty of snacks and the last night we didn't bother to have dinner. we didn't find the times awkward at all enabled us to go out to eat at a reasonable time.We did walk up to the hawker stalls the first night and found the food to be good and very cheap.
the highlight of our stay was our visit to the orangutan sancutary we had a superb day we got some fantastic photos and enjoyed a beer before going back..
we only ate breakfast in the club room we found there to be a large enough choice for us so couldn't comment on the main buffet. as we had an early flight we arranged to have a breakfast in our room . i didn't expect to have so much food we had to leave some.
we enjoyed the infinity pool it was fairly quiet at the time when we were there. it was easy to get iced water .I enjoyed a foot massage at the pool it wasn't cheap but very pleasant.
Our room was well kept and i enjoyed the bookmarks at the nightly turn down. the bath was pleasant to sit and and view the sunset.

We have just returned home to Mandurah, Western Australia after our second stay at this great resort, when we arrived at the hotel and booked in we told the receptionist that one of the people traveling with had had his suite case miss placed by the airline we used, as soon as we told them about this one of the other receptionists stepped foreword and asked for the paperwork that related to the lost case and said not to worry she will take care of it for us, the hotel then gave the person who's case had been lost an emergency package containing some bathroom items as well as a shirt and pants to wear and a few other things whilst they chased up the lost case. By midnight the same night the lost case was found and delivered to hid hotel room door, now that is good service. During our stay we found the food to be of really good quality and the staff were excellent at all times and were always happy to help you with any problems or requests you may have. I did miss not having the bread and butter pudding available at breakfast each day, when i asked why it was not on the menu one of the chefs came out from the kitchen and explained to me that because of some ongoing renovations in the kitchen they had to cut back on some of the regular dishes, he promised me he would have some made for the following day and he did so i was very happy with that. The only thing that i was a little disappointed in was not getting our breakfast packs to take with us, when we told the staff the day before that we would be checking out at 4:30am they told me they would organise to have a breakfast pack for each person at reception for when we checked out at 4:30am, but overall we were all very happy with our stay at the resort for the second time and will be back again next year and i would recommend this resort to anybody visiting Kota Kinabalu.

Room Tip: we always stay in the seaview rooms because we like to have a view of the South China Sea, and in th...

Stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. The Kids Club was fantastic. They didn't mind me leaving the kids there while I popped out to Gaya St market for 2 hours. Many activities for the children for different ages indoors and outside the 3 water slides & water war games was great fun. The breakfast was fantastic and had a great variety of food. The room had everything you needed, was very comfortable and refurbished to a high standard. The taxi's were a standard RM20 to town, but don't expect the taxi's to use meters as they either didn't have meters or they were broken (so I was told). If you want a longer stretch of beach stay at the Shangri-La Rasa Ria resort but this is approx a 45min taxi ride to town.

Third time there for a short X-mas break in Dec'11. Again we loved the staff and ambiance but this time it was a bit too crowded for our liking. It's an ideal family place and that means there will be plenty of them during the holidays. That becomes clear during breakfast and around the pool when things just get a bit less relaxed than desired. Compared to my honeymoon there late April'10, the atmosphere was less laid back. But otherwise this place always makes you feel welcome and at home. The staff is just amazing and the resort offers a very constant quality. I hope the jetty will be open again next time I go, because the trips to the nearby islands really is a must for beach-lovers and snorklers. The 'beach' at the resort just isn't the ideal place, let's face it. Sure we all can make it look good on a photo (see pic) but don't say I didn't warn you when the real 'beach' is a bit disappointing to you once you get there.

Room Tip: I really like the Kinabalu wing a lot better and if you are an early bird, consider the Mountain Vie...
