“Nice coffee and local experience”
Reviewed March 19, 2014 via mobile

Explored this cafe for the first time and totally fell in love with it. Love their borneo white coffee and the toast. Of course their pandan chicken nasi lemak matches with kopi botol. An experience which I could hardly find. It feels like home!

“Well worth at least one visit”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

The restaurant and kitchen have recently been thoroughly cleaned and are now spotless. The tables are reminiscent of the old coffee shops in Sabah as they have marble tops. The food is excellent and the service quick and friendly. Callum, Mei and May Ling make you very welcome and can give you lots of useful advice to help you in your travels. The WW2 theme works well and there are loads of pictures and maps to interest you. Altogether the best place to hang out in KK.

“Fantastic Backdrop, Average Service”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Had the opportunity to try out the main branch in the busy town centre located opposite the famous Gaya Street (they have another branch in Kingfisher Plaza) just for the curiosity of the kopi botol (bottled coffee).

Service was horrible from the coworkers as they ignored my waves and calls directed to their attention. After spending minutes of grabbing their attention to no avail, I walked up to the counter and approached the owner of the place and placed my order. In striking contrast, the owner is quite a pleasant lady who knows her stuff. Another couple from China walked in at the same time I did and I saw her explaining at length to them about what to do in the town centre of Sabah.

Food is fairly okay, price is within budget range and the bottled coffee was an innovative idea and it definitely has that attractive label on it that you've just got to give it a try when you're around town. The surroundings are decorated with historic pictures, pages from books and a timeline of events during the WW2 invasion by the Japanese in the isle of Borneo. Gives you some time to kill while you're waiting for your orders.

Generally, not so much of a pleasant experience as a result of the service that I got, but I might make a return trip in the future for the bottled coffee as I found the aroma irresistible.

“Terrible service! Horrible drinks! A definitely no-go”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

I ordered an iced americano, assuming it's sugarfree as like in all americano(definition in menu and common sense: coffee mix with hot water), but they added sugar in it. I then requested for a new non-sugar added americano. However, the lady boss told me if i were to order a new one, she'll charge me for it. Helo?! What kind of service is this?! Plus the teh tarik my partner ordered has no taste whatsoever. Just tasted diluted! Terrible!! Avoid at all cost!!
