“popular with tourists and locals”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

this place is huge and popular, so go earlier before 7pm. Food wise, we found it good, but not fantastic. It is really value for money though. A kg of prawns is only about 40+ ringgit! A lot of seafood was not available however, and we were disappointed. Service is minimal (just drinks), you have to place orders at a central counter which often has a queue. 5 of us spent around 300 ringgit, including drinks which was reasonable.

“Famous seafood restaurant”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

They have variety seafood dishes here and always pack, to enjoy more choices of food, we have to come before 7pm, otherwise only limited seafood for selection. Price range compare to others is acceptable but if you go to their another branch (at penampang area). Penampang branch welcome seafood restaurant much more cheaper.

“Amazing seafood,great experience”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Turned up at 8pm and they place was packed. Managed to be seated by friendly staff and served ice cold tiger beers and water within minutes. Then came the fun of trying to order. A lot of charades and pointing and we managed to eat like kings. Spicy prawns, butter prawns, whole baked grouper (which we don't even remember ordering),noodles, steamed rice, fresh stir fried vegetables and four large tiger beers for only 180 MYR including a tip. People still arriving when we were leaving.
Would highly recommend.

“Poor service but variety of fresh seafood”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Bring to this restaurant by my friends as they mention this location have cheap and nice food.
We arrive there around 7pm and there was too crowded and full of tourists. I would like to order local coconut but it was told by waitress that coconut was sold out. Dispointed!
There was long queue for ordering the food and we have to wait for around 15 minutes to queue up for ordering food. We have order steam fish, fried taufu, fried vegetable, fried Shiham (one kind of shellfish), boiled shrimp, deep fried cuttlefish.
The steam fish was over steam. The fried taufu was not enough fried. The vegetable was too salty. The deep fried cuttlefish was not enough deep fried.
There was flies flying around inside the air conditioning dining room. The room was too noisy, my friends and I could not even hear each other. Take a long time for the drink to be served.
Unless you really like to see your seafood swimming inside aquarium. Or else I guess there was a lot more other seafood restaurant that you could visit.

“Horrible service”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Super disappointed with the service. The waiters were snobbish and rude. We waited so long for not only a table but to order as well. After queuing for like 15 minutes to order, we were turned down. The waiter asked us for our table number and then he said,'Oh, you have to order at the other restaurant'. There are two Welcome Seafood Restaurants in KK Town and they are side by side. I don't know whether they are the same or not.

Super super packed! Be sure to go early or try booking a table (if they allow). Food was ok but I'm sure there are other nicer places.

Tip for foreigners: Please to do not ask the waiter for their suggestion. They will suggest all the expensive seafood. We overheard them suggesting lobsters and one of the expensive fishes to a Korean couple.
