Utterly unprofessional, sickening and disgusting service (or rather disservice) rendered by KKSuites@Marina Court leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and hope my horrid experience serves to prevent any future "catastrophe" for those intending to stay with KKSuites@Marina Court - My advice is DON'T BOTHER because they are absolutely and disgustingly IRRESPONSIBLE!!!!!!

I booked 3 condo units for 19 adults and 2 children sometime in April 2012 (Ref: G1671 & G1739) and was supposed to stay there from 19 Aug to 22 Aug 2012. However, when I called at about 10 a.m. on 16 Aug (3 days prior to my departure) to reconfirm my booking, I was told that they had cancelled my booking via email the day before. I understand that it was due to a major leakage and it was unavoidable.

However, what truly IRKS and DISGUSTS me is that they do not have the courtesy nor the decency to send me an SMS but simply relied on an email message to cancel the reservation. Now, how many of us check or email regularly on a daily basis? Can’t they just send an SMS to my phone to refer me to their urgent email when they do have my contact number? No, they did not do so – which reflects their unprofessionalism! What would have happened if I had not called them to reconfirm my reservation? The answer is obvious - my entire group would have been STRANDED without airport transfer and accommodation during the peak period of the Hari Raya holidays!

What's more DISGUSTING was the attitude of the person-in-charge I spoke to. I appealed to him to help me find alternative arrangements for accommodation due to my large group and also the ultra short notice, bearing in mind that this was to be my first visit to Kota Kinabalu. First, he promised to get back to me after an hour. When the hour was up, there was no call forthcoming. I called back, and this time he said he would get back to me by 5.00 p.m. After 5.00 p.m., again no call from him and I called back. A lady answered the phone, mumbled some silly excuses and refused to put him on the line. At 7.00 p.m. I called again, only to hear a voice recording saying that I was to call back the next day! I really must thank KKSuites for being so helpful in making my trip to KK a near disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your lack of professionalism is truly a BIG BLACK MARK on the tourism sector in Kota Kinabalu and you deserve the widest publicity for your apathy and disservice! And, as a parting shot, I hope that THINKING ALOUD IS ALLOWED here on your Guest Review Page. You ought to have the GUTS and COURAGE to own up to your shortcomings and unprofessionalism by not censoring my comments here! Anyway, as a precautionary measure, let me tell you I am taking the liberty to publish my comments in other websites related to Sabah in general and Kota Kinabalu in particular for the benefit of other travellers so that they would not be LEFT IN A LURCH by an establishment like yours!!!!

To be fair, the things sighted and experienced by me and my friends may just be over this stay, so I will not say it is always like this. But based on my 4 nights stay, my experience hasn't been good.

1. Bed Bugs - on couch and bed, resulting in severe bites all over not one person but few of us.

2. Room has a damp/moudly smell albeit airing it, so unbearable that we have to buy Ferbreeze and disinfectant to rid the smell.

3. TV has a cable satellite channel but only less than 10 watchable (in native language) others all fuzzy.

4. We were greeted by an exploding light bulb upon switching on the lights after check in. The whole hall and kitchen in darkness and the hotel "management" could not do anything about it till next morning.

5. Sheets and blankets were not very clean. Yellow stains were sighted.

6. Forget about gym and pool amenities. Sad state.

7. Many china visitors/tenants/workers in the property - so you can expect some loud noised, unruly and insolent "mainland chinese" culture.

On the other hand, the plus points include a good location, the management changed towels for us (once) during our stay, were responsive to our inquiries and good location of the property.

Well you get some you lose some, so that is our experience with this property.

Go back again? Don't think so.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.

Don't confuse the KK suites with other Marina Court properties. Friends had recommended Marina Court and we booked for 10 day stay. Company arranged complimentary transport from airport. Deposited in underground car park, waited 20 minutes. One of our party was unwell and needed to lay down Problem with lift. Bit shocked by initial appearance, did not look like photos on Agoda site. Agent left after while still in shock. 3 bed condo with ocean view, not very clean, linen musty, beds very hard. view of ocean, over construction site & 2x cranes bonus man in underwear hanging washing, kids spitting into pool from another room. Rings & scraps of plastic- shower curtain bath 1, muddy toilet roll & interesting DIY shower connection bath 2. Decor very 70's, prob original, stained. Left bags in room to find alternative accom immediately. No refund provided. Staff at marina court resort next door helped arrange alternative accommodation. Enjoyed stay at Sutera Habour.

Room Tip: Do not stay here
