“A good value city (budget) hotel”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

I chose this hotel after reading up on tripadvisor and I find most reviews are fairly similar to my experience.

Front Desk - Not the most knowledgeable/helpful staff. They were nice but it took them a long time to retrieve our booking and figured out our rooms (we booked three rooms but their system showed five rooms and later on realized it was their mistake) and was not able to put all of us on the same floor. (Not the most ideal situation for group travel). Not much advice or recommendation was given for nearby restaurant/attractions.

Location - I agree with many other reviewers that the hotel is well-situated, with a convenience store around the corner and Old Town White Coffee (24/7) across the street. It's perfect if you have an early start in the morning to Mount Kinabalu or other excursions. You can grab a coffee/snacks/supply at your arm's reach.

Room - We had a deluxe family room and it was spacious! Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very good size. Good pressure shower-head and adequate bathroom amenities. I also liked the counter space in the room that made packing a more manageable task. TV, on the other hand, looked small in this big room.

Room Tip: We were staying on the 5th floor quite close to the elevator (high traffic area). Since the hotel wa...

This is a new hotel in the KK city center, walking distance to many attractions. The room is spacious and clean. If you rent a car, it's not so hard to find a free parking space nearby. Best budget choice in KK!

The room is really big & comfortable. Bathroom also huge. Strategically located at the center of the city. Great & recommended for family. Modern look and new furniture. The staffs were very friendly and greet you at your arrival or whenever they see you. The wifi signal were also strong. Really satisfied.

It's a modern hotel in a busy little city. The staff are smiling and efficient. The room is big and well laid out. The bathroom is clean and large. The free WiFi signal is really strong however be warned you can only use max two devices and then it cuts you off so when I logged on on my phone and iPad, hubby missed out. Next door the 24 hour convenience store sells both beer and wine so don't be silly like us and lug wine with you from overseas. We are staying one night this time and going off into the jungle and coming back and we are glad we chose this hotel.

The hotel is beyond our expectations. It is strategically located in the town centre. What makes it best is a bakery which is right next door (yummy) and 24 hours restaurants which are just across the street. Old Town restaurant is the best. There is a mall close by, jetty, night market, fruit market, etc, all within walking distances. Besides, the tourism office is just opposite the hotel!

For the tourist who would like to go for tours, there is a tour desk in the hotel lobby. Prices offered are reasonable. We have purchased several tours through the same tour desk and definitely not regretting it. The trips were all awesome!

Rooms is spacious, clean and nice. Even a superior room is enough for a family with small kids. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We would rate this hotel above 4 star.

We would definitely go back to this hotel again in our next visit!

We walked-in into this hotel because we arrived in Kota Kinabalu without any reservations at any hotel. We asked the driver to bring us to a certain hotel, but it was full. So, at 2:30 AM, we walked around 40 meters and found Hotel Sixty3. The name sounded weird for me but, the experience was the opposite.

We were greeted by Jash at the front desk. He was kind enough to help us. We were able to book a family room with two of my friends. Upon entering, we were shocked on how wide the room was!! It was really wide. Beds were comfortable as well. Hot shower, toiletries, complimentary water, fridge, etc. were available. All the necessities you need. staff are friendly and nice too.

For the location, I couldn't thought of a better place. It was just across Old Town!! The coffee place I've been wanting to try for years! (Yes, it was my first time in Malaysia). Next, it was just literally 20 steps away from the Sunday Market!! Also, there's a 24 hour minimart beside the hotel. I recommend the seaweed chips!! Something I discovered in the store. "Keropok Lumpai Laut", I think it's called. And Maybank is just around the corner! Easy to withdraw RMs when you need it! Lastly, there are two malls 2-3 blocks from the hotel. You can reach it through a 5 minute walk! It felt like a safe area for me.

So why can't I give them 5 stars? The hotel felt like it was just a hotel. It needed to feel more homey. Maybe a lounge area would have helped (besides the couches at the lobby area which, by the way, is where we hang out a lot). If they had a lounge area that we didn't know about, they should have advertised it more. Also, I have to warn you, there is no room service nor restaurant. But, Old Town (24 hours) and a deli across the street can satisfyingly fix that hungry tummy for you! :)

Dear xojie,

Thank you for the time spent in reviewing us. We especially love reading about how people stumble upon us and are pleasantly surprised with it! We truly appreciate your review and recommendation to other readers!

We're pleased that the room size, bathroom and other amenities have provided you with a comfortable stay. I'm sure your recommendation on the Keropok Rumpai Laut and other easily-accessible eateries are well appreciated by future travellers.

We do have a larger and quieter lounge area on the first floor that we call the 'Atrium Lobby' with comfortable settees and ample natural light during daytime. Guests enjoy reading and catching up with their travel party here. We admit that it is easy to 'miss' this lobby. Thanks to your recommendation, we shall put up some information to guests about this space.

Thank you for staying with us and we look forward to the privilege of serving you again in the near future .

We went to KK without any booking made. We were supposed to check in to a nearby hotel but unfortunately, it was fully booked. We were told to go to the next hotel and surprisingly, it was worth the expense.

The hotel is clean and the reception of the people are very warm and welcoming. If you love shopping, this is also a great place to stay in as it is near to the major shopping malls in the city. Sunday Market is also few steps away.

The great thing about this hotel is that, it is located in front of the most famous coffee shop in MY, the Old Town and other local delicacies available around. So, if your planning to go for a trip, i would highly recommend this hotel. Thumbs up!
