“Very nice hotel in KK”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Nice rooms, comfy beds, helpful staff. Close to Jetty and shopping. Did not try the breakfast offering, nor use the in-house travel agent. Wonderful large bathroom/shower. Nice and quiet. We were on the 4th floor and had a nice window/view. Would definitely stay again.

Let me start by saying that we stayed in the hotel during Chinese holidays, meaning that it was pretty full, and the internet connection was .. well working slower than my 28k8 modem in the 90s.

Apart from that, friendliness of the staff was a positive, as well as the nice rainshower, although more than offset by a lot of negatives. Lack of understanding of the staff and slowness (if you call reception for longdrink glasses, and they bring you coffee cups, four times in a row), lack of lighting in the room (our double room had only 6 small lights to cover all, which was insufficient and annoying especially in the bathroom), they sent us to a very poor boat-company Apuru to ferry us to nearby islands, poor cleaning (we wondered if they actually cleaned anything in the room, dirt was still around after their service, I guess they only straigthened the bedsheets).

Well, I'll stop. This hotel was fine as a base to make short trips around Sabah, but think it is a bit overrated in general.

The hotel in general is nice but it has some serious deficiencies for a hotel in it's price range.

(1) There is no restaurant, room service, or even coffee shop. There will sell you vouchers to eat at other nearby places though.... And charge you a 50% mark up for the privilege of buying the voucher from them...

(2) The internet access works very poorly. Almost completely unusable. 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, etc... I worked with the hotel across several days to try and resolve the issues but they never could get it working well, even on their own computers. You had to attempt to load a web page 3 or 4 times before it would come up. I was not able to book my onward tickets or complete a skype call.

(3) The "do not disturb sign" on the door is ignored. I was woken up by staff while I was sleeping. Another time I returned to the room to find that staff had been in there while I was away (something I specifically didn't want as I had several personal items scattered about).

Friendly and helpful front desk.
Efficient service staff.
convenient spot with good food- Little Italy is just 2 min walk and the famous bakkut teh- 3 min away; jessleton jetty only 8-10 min walk.
Tourism office just across the road if you need more traveling info.
Gaya sunday market just down the road.
one recommended bakery just next door.
1 24 hours clinic just the back door.
the only setback is the car park which is still manageable.

Stayed here for three nights in mid September 2012.
Great position with short walk to get to Waterfront eateries.
Just next door and across the road are pastries and coffee shops - all fresh and cheap.
Roods are clean and there was free wi fi. Will not hesitate to stay again given the opportunity.

Room Tip: Excellent value

We stayed here for 5 nights and then returned for another 4 nights. Excellent location in the centre of KK close to bars, shops and restaurants. Very close to the port for day trips to the Islands. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Above all, it is excellent value for money. Rooms are big, clean, and new.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a perfect place to base ourselves in KK. It is in a very central location- everything was within walking distance. The hotel itself was fantastic, very clean, huge rooms, amazing shower- what more could you ask for?! Would definitely stay here again.
