Sapi Island is the smallest island, just 15 minutes from the mainland, and boasts an amazing coral underwater snorkeling experience with a vast array of fish and marine life. A small hike of 25 minutes from one end to the other end goes through winding trails, but beware of monitoring lizards and snakes (not harmful unless you provoke them). Make sure you wear mosquito spray as you can get bites all over, and itchy skin lasts a few days.

The water was warm & not very deep. We could walk till the water level reaches our chest. The fishes & corals are beautiful & simply amazing. Its just a heavem on earth. Its just 20mins from the airport & from the kota kinabalu town centre. A must go to visit!

A short boat trip from Sutera Harbour will get you to Sapi Island. The water temperature was perfect to allow plenty of snorkeling time. Lots of marine life to see in relatively clear water. Certainly should add to your list of to-do's when in Sabah.

We were really excited about a snorkelling trip and arrived early so did have some time without the huge numbers of tourists who were all under huge Su proof marquees on the beach were lunch was provided. The snorkelling was much better with less coral damage in front of the showers but there was a lot of rubbish too many people choose a quieter island with respectful visitors. The debris encourages the monitor lizards and macaques who are quite viscous.

Go to Sapi Island for snorkelling and parasailing. Sapi Island is really beautiful and you will be able to see a lot of fishes and corals when you swim passed the first line buoyant line. You can surely see clown fishes.
