“nice..”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Mamutik island is one of the 3 islands in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. We purposely chose Mamutik as it is cleaner and less densed since most people would stop at Manukan island (it being the first stop). It' shore is safe and the water is pristine. Just be a bit careful with some rocks underneath the water (should be visible through your goggles). Perfect for family with kids and elderly.. i just wish they have the packaged tourists refreshment spots stashed away at the other side of the island as they spoil the view in photos. In short, our kids love it and would return someday!

“Basic & Small Island”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Mamutik was our second and last stop, we only did a 2 islands trip. It's the smallest island among the four and it's small. We arrived at 1:20pm and was scheduled to be picked up at 3pm which was quite a rush. Like the other island, upon arrival the jetty leads to a counter where you pay for the park entrance fee. I guess it was lunch hour, both side of the beach were occupied by big group of "tour-ists" seated under tents for their BBQ lunch. We went on to our para-sailing, the actual sailing lasted only 5-8min. We had simple lunch (seafood fried rice and maggie mee) at the only eatery on the island. There's also a "mini-smart" beside the eatery. There were a changing area & bathroom with outdoor shower heads, condition of bathroom was bad and no maintenance. We didn't have enough time to go for a swim or snorkel, was too tired too. However I could see the snorkeling area was quite limited but believe the marine life was better in this island as water was clearer too. It's wise to wait at the jetty for your boat from the respective tour agent 10-15mins before the pick up time. The skippers would call out the tour company name and you've to show your tickets to them.

“Great coral”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

We had a fun, quick trip from Tanjung Aru. The resort has a section of deck chairs along the beach for resort guests which was a lovely surprise. The snorkelling was great, best near the jetty.

We chose the buffet lunch which was ok. The toilets were way below average and something the island managers could focus on immediately.

“Beach in the city”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

Fun way to spend an afternoon. Haggle with the different operators at the pier, get some snorkels and beach mats and board a fast bumpy speedboat ride to the island. It's crowded but pretty and we also saw a monitor lizard which was cool. Few hours on the island was plenty for some sunbathing and snorkelling.

“Relaxing”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

We went on a weekday. Was deciding between Manukan and Mamutik. Taxi driver suggested Mamutik as he said the beach is nicer. There weren't too many people, and it was very relaxing. Did snorkeling and saw fishes and corals just a short distance from beach. The sea on the other side of the jetty though has no fish. Water is so clear.

Water pressure from the shower is very low, and the toilet is terrible.

If you are doing multiple islands on this tour, rent your snorkeling gear before you board the boat. Otherwise if you rent at one island, you have to return them and pay and rent again at the next island.
