“Malayan history and heritage, headhunters history”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Worth to spend a few hours in this Museum,a bit far from city center, can take a taxi,or city tour arrangements ( Bas Persiaran).Kinabalu's history was well presented, along with AV room, artifacs, photos and diorama. The coolest thing in here was the history if the headhunters, complete with the real skulls, weapons to caputate enemy heads of the original Kadazandusun settlers.

“InterestiNg and informative”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Is a bit out of town so you need to figure out the buses or get a cab. We recommend you get it to wait for you... As when we came out there was none to be had and apparently they don't come even if you call, not so fun in the rain...
The museum was interesting, had a good section on the local wildlife and the local history. The pro-colonial take made for some interesting reading.
The ticket also enables you to see the historical villages, but we didn't because of the rain. The museum of Islamic civilization is also on site, but we didn't make it there, again because of the rain.
Good way to spend a few hours and learn some things about Sabah.

“Worth a couple of hours stop”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

It’s definitely worth a visit here for a couple of hours. However overall the exhibits are tired & looking dated. Probably very innovative when it was opened
It was interesting though to read local events relating to WW2, the displays & commentary about the war.
Don’t know why we didn’t see the heritage village?

“Not Enough Time to See Everything”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Took a taxi to the museum R20 from Le Meridein. There is a good display in the main building showing culture and change, including costumes, artefacts about head hunting, and independence. There are also displays outside, houses etc but we didn't have time to see them as we had booked a tour. The little we saw was very interesting. It's true that it is dark inside but this is surely to protect the exhibits and it isn't so dark that you cannot read the information. You have to buy your ticket at the booth opposite to the museum entrance. I like museums and I recommend this one

“Very interesting”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Very interesting museum and really enjoyed the section showing their relationship with Britain and Australia. The. Heritage village is beautiful. Couldn't find the Islam section. Is a bit far flung and you need to walk from one area to the other which could be a problem for disabled people or inclement weather. All in all a pleasant afternoon
