Price is reasonable, room is clean and safe, no elevator, nice Air-cond, free wifi, nice location with many food outlets just a stone throw away.

However, the location is too near to the airport only if you don't mind the last flight is is around 1am and the first flight is around 6am... the plane might wake you up, free wake up call indeed.

Overall, I'll rate it a solid 3.5 starts! Worth the money and worth staying.

budget hotel, room facilities are working, clean, heater is working well, quiet during night, although tv channels are limited and there is no mini refrigerator and the outlet for switch is different (would prefer the universal switch than the square), would recommend this hotel to anyone specially for people like me who are in a budget! ;-)

I had to stay 2 nights in Sabah and did not plan it recently which found me walking from the airport to the 'Airport View Hotel' 3-4km away. Upon reaching the hotel in the morning around 11am, I was 'greeted' (more like a grunt) by the receptionist and he told me that there were rooms available but the check in time was only at 12noon. If I wanted to check in earlier, I would have to pay an additional amount of RM50 of the RM110 room they had available for me. I opted to wait the 50 minutes and whipped out my phone to see if there were better offers out there. I am glad the hotel made me wait cause I found a much better hotel nearby for RM10 additional only. I then took my bags and walked another 2-3kms to the Crown Borneo Hotel.

The Crown Borneo is way better because it had all the shops and amenities around. Airport View hotel has NOTHING nearby at all.

Although check in for the Crown was only at 2pm, they gave me the 1st available room when they could and I was happily settling into my room by 1.20pm. The size is what you get for RM120 a night but it is good enough for 2, the bathroom is nice and above all things it is clean! I would stay there again in a heartbeat should i ever return to Sabah.

Yes, they still provide free shuttle service to the airport (kicking myself for walking) and they are very helpful as well. A stones throw away is the laundry mat (RM5 for 1 kilo of clothes washed), plenty of coffee shops around and mamaks as well. Good job to the smaller operators out there like Crown Borneo! Keep up the great work.

This hotel is very close to the international airport and provide free airport shuttle starting from 5am. We had a 6am flight to catch but was given ample time due to this service.
Also, even though the room is small, it's considered clean and the service people are all very welcoming and friendly. They also charge only RM15 to drive us to downtown KK and recommended us a very nice seafood restaurant. Their people always seem so willing to help and give good advice. So I would say it's definitely a nice choice around that area.

When I go to a strange city, I look for good review scores, a free airport shuttle, and then access to the main city centre at a reasonable cost. This place has all that and more, with an affordable tariff and good customer service. This Hotel is of an older style and is located in the southern part of the city,
The linen is clean, the bed and pillows fine, the room big enough, A/C works well and the food good too (ask for the breakfast on arrival and get it cheaper than asking on the next day).
There is not much actually near the Hotel, but 15 mins walk away is a large park with musical fountains and a soft-tread running track around it which helps give reasonable ambience.
It's a 20 min walk to the beach which is worth it for the sunset views.
Fare to the city by Bus 16 and nearby bus-stop is just one Ringit,(35cents) and there is a reasonable frequency during daylight hours. Terminal 2 at the airport is also walkable in 20 mins - but why with the free shuttle?
Drawbacks? Being near the Airport means it is close to a flight path, so there is a free alarm clock at about 6am!
I stayed there a second time, after being happy 3 weeks earlier.

I'll start with the pros...
Close to the airport
Free airport transfers
Hot water and a good shower
Staff were helpful when we asked for directions etc
There is a small beach about a 10-15min walk away that was fun to visit. There are some nice bars to sit in and the sea was really warm

And for the cons...
Our room smelt like wee
The decor in the rooms is very tired
We were put in a family room which was actually quite small
The plug sockets were all very dodgy...strange noises coming out of them, some didn't work, one turned the TV off when it was switched on
The kettle was also dodgy and I had to hold down the switch so that it would actually boil
We had an internal window so there was a lot of artificial light in the room all night
There is a lot of noise from the airport
Very hard bed

Overall, it's fine if you need to stop over in KK for a night or two due to it's proximity to the airport, otherwise you'd be better off going somewhere else as there isn't much in the immediate area.

My son and I were spent a couple of nights here during our recent trip to the Seaventures rig in East Borneo; as our flight from Singapore arrived too late to catch the onward flight to Tawau.

While the location close to the airport and the included transfers are great; the rooms themselves are nothing to write home about. It's evident that they don't spend too much in the upkeep of the hotel, and the surrounding area of Tanjung Aru is just as unkempt.

Facilities are very limited in the hotel; apart from air-conditioning, cable TV with a few channels and hot water, there is no other modern conveniences. There's not even a lift in the building.

Having "breakfast included" in the price is a rip-off: "breakfast" is a couple of cold pieces of toast, some instant coffee and a a bowl of mushy cereal (seriously, how difficult is to get cereal right?) - you're much better off having a local Teh Tarik in any of the eateries around the hotel.

Said that, the convenience of the airport transfers makes this hotel a choice if you are just staying overnight.
