Came back after 2 years , was really surprised with all the changes from Rainforest Lodge to D'beach Street Lodge. Room are newly refurbish with balcony , the room is clean and the pillow really nice , quality mattress and comfy sleep. Chill with my friends at the balcony while enjoying local live band entertainment .Strong connection of wi-fi. Area are very safe and close to shopping mall. You can find local restaurant anywhere and place to chill nearby. SURELY WILL COME BACK AND STAY AGAIN!

Room tip: If u have soft ear request a quieter room.

Location is all that suits "D'Beach Street Lodge". If you have a soft ear for noise it's not for you as there's nightly butchering of songs until past midnight. Rooms were alright. Not the greatest but it can get you through. Dark carpeted floors were unappealing to the eye let alone the feet. Keep your shoes on as it looks like they never really get vacuumed or cleaned. Although, complemented with a large terrace on the new side of the building is quite nice to sit above the street and enjoy some take-out. Complimentary breakfast is only complimentary bread. That's it. So don't get your hopes up on any additional effort to get any nutrition in the morning like other places offer in the price of the room. Wifi worked maybe 15% of the time during our stay. This makes for a little more of an inconvenience to the budget/average traveller when needing to book flights or other entities. There is wifi around, it's just a matter of finding it. Staff was hit and miss. Only one staff spoke English while the others gave you the "huh" look. But when talking with the only who would understand, he was more than accommodating and would give you answers when questions were asked. Would only stay here again if it were for max one night as a transitional location. As budget travellers we all can get through the imperfections of backpacking. If stopping in KK, check other places too.

We came with a group of friends to climb Mt. Kinabalu, stayed here for the night after the climb. We couldn't get any rest, even after clocking 40KM for the past 2 days at the mountains.

Why?
- There's a live band downstairs blaring high octane songs after songs thru the midnight.

- The room is made from thin cardboard, with some air vents on top of the door that amplifies the sound, you can ask to change the room if you are a light sleeper.

- Early morning 5AM you can listen to the workers cleaning and arranging furniture, with Walkie Talkie conversations added.

- Air conditioning unit is working, but you have to "borrow" the remote control to change your setting, we're lucky that from 5 rooms there is 1 which has the remote control.

- No hangers in the bathroom, so expect your clothes to get wet or get dirty from hanging at the concrete.

- The blanket is actually a towel, and a thin one too.

- Our gate access card didn't function, so had to go down 2 floors and walk opposite to change it.

To sum it up, this is the worst ever experience for me, even for a backpacker's lodge.
PS: Whoever owns this place, pray that you buck up the quality and don't taint the reputation of Sabah's hospitality.

Room tip: - If you have air vent openings on top of your room door, ask for another room, that is a sleep killer because it channel air and live band sound to your ears. - Bring your own blanket, the air conditioning has no remote control, and their blanket is actually a towel. - Go to tripadvisor.com, and find other similar price range hotels, you'll regret staying here. Beware: We checked in 2 days ago, and found out the hotel name has changed to De Beach Hotel.

The hotel located in very strategy place and the Sunday morning market just downstairs, and price is reasonable as we book the room for 4pax.
but if you are a light sleeper, advisable get a room which not facing the bar.
else, just noisy and noisy all along the night.

Room tip: Pick a room on thr right side, less noisy.
