Cititel Express Kota Kinabalu
Ranked #20 of 92 Hotels in Kota Kinabalu

We spent one night in Cititel Express in KK on last 15th August. We stayed in a std double room that was clean and with every feature you need.
It's true that the room wasn't too much spacious but if you stay one or two nights is absolutely enough. The hotel is also in the centre of KK, just 5minutes walk to the seaside restaurants and bars area and is also 15minutes from the airport by taxi. If you are looking for a convenient and clean location in KK, this should be your choice.

Location is unbeatable, lots of eateries, seafood restaurants beside. Cross the street is a big mall called Centre Point which has money exchange, phone card, local tour...etc.

Rooms are clean and compact. Double bed is big enough and the bathroom size is really big compare to the room although the space is not enough to open a big suitcase. For travellers who hanging around all the time and only use the hotel for sleep, it is the economical one.

The hotel is only approximately 15min from the airport (terminal 2). Before i booked this hotel, i was told that the hotel room is small but i was thinking how small can it be compare to s'pore budget hotel (which i stayed few mths ago), it cant be smaller than then s'pore budget hotel that i stay previously. BUT I was wrong, it is smaller than the s'pore budget hotel i stayed previously. It is really small, we don't even have space to put our luggage on the floor, we have to put on the open space wardrobe provided, which fit perfectly of our 2 luggage. When we want to pack to check out, we have to put one of our luggage on the bed to pack. Imagine how small it is. The walking space is rather limited. For the price, i would recommend to go for other hotel.
Overall, the hotel is clean. The package i took inclusive of the breakfast, the breakfast spread i would said more towards asian style such as nasi lemak, fried noodle, fried rice, porridge, they even have like chicken redang for breakfast. It totally dun suit my taste so for the past 3 days egg had been my breakfast. I would said the breakfast totally depend on personal preference, for me i do not like it.
As for hotel location, nearby there is restaurant and parking space provided, so for those who plan to rent a car, it is rather convenient as the parking just in front of the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, well-maintained, and offered everything we needed. It's a short 10-minute walk to the waterfront. They also offer a variety of tours that are reasonably priced. Service was very good and the reception staff were polite, efficient, and friendly. The room is tiny with only enough space for the bed ... the room is about 8 feet by 10 feet, at best. The bathroom is very nice with a wonderful shower and plenty of space. The TV was also quite nice. We'd stay here again and the price is right.

We stayed for two nights in this hotel. Rooms are clean though very small. It is not far from Waterfront and other shopping malls. A convenient location. No free wireless internet though. Will recommend this hotel for others.

The Cititel Express is well located and clean, you have shops all round and the Centre Point shopping complex is just a few minutes of walk.
The bedroom is super tiny for Malaysia standard. I have been to Malaysia before but I have never seen a so tiny bedroom. It is like a bed thrown in a corridor. If you push the bed towards the wall at the window side you have only one foot of clearance on the other side of the wall and roughly two feet at the foot of the bed in front of the TV. There is a space to put your suitcase, thank God, but be careful if you have one of those large suitcases, it will not fit in that space and I can’t see where you will lay down that suitcase; luckily I had a medium one. About 4 coat hangers to hang some stuff. Bathroom and toilet clean and of good size. The desk is very tiny; there is a wooden stool in front of it which looks more like a small round phone table. It is small and weak. I am only 79kg, if you are on the heavy side, that mini stool might break. Also the wooden legs on the hard floor are very noisy when anyone next-door move that stupid stool. That could easily be fixed by putting some rubber or felt stickers under the four legs. The bathroom door slams noisily against its frame when opened and that noise reverberates at night when any residents next-door open their bathroom door. Again that could easily be fixed by putting some rubber stoppers at the frame of the door. That hotel is ok for a short stay; I stayed only 3 nights, but would not want to be in that corridor bedroom for longer.

While the room was small, it was fine for one person. Had a nice view of the Islands off the shore. It is located in a good spot, easy walking to shopping centers, restaurants, Night Market. Its a bit far from the dock to the islands, but that area is pretty touristy, so it was nice to be out of that. I stayed there twice, and the rooms were clean, and a/c worked ok. There is a RM10 charge for internet, but from some rooms you can get the free local internet, but it only allows 1 hour/day of access. One time I had the breakfast, which was good, the other time I just went right outside for many good eating options.
