Came for lunch and tried their all day set menu. Place was absolutely empty. Asked the server what the soup of the day was and was told that the soup of the day is whatever soup they prepared for the day. Proceeded to ask again what was the soup of the day only to be told again, what the meaning of soup of the day is. Only after the third time of asking did the server disappear into the kitchen only to be replaced by another one who, after being asked the same question, at least had the sense to go back into the kitchen, ask what the soup was, and come back out to inform us that it was corn soup. By that point I had zero interest in the soup. Tried ordering the calamari starter but they were out of it. Settled on the sauteed mushrooms, with a pork schnitzel main. I did not ask what the dessert of the day was at the time of ordering (New York Cheesecake, btw).
After an inconsequential amount of time the starters arrived and the sauteed mushrooms were served on a cold plate. How cold, one might ask? Cold enough that the edges of the mushrooms were cold, the oil was congealed and the mushrooms themselves felt microwaved. Pitiful.
The mains arrived very quickly after the starters. I was done with my mushrooms while my partner was still having hers, so it's a toss up on whether it's a good thing they are fast with serving it or poor in not knowing how to time serving the mains until after we are done with our starters. The pork schnitzel was thin, lathered with I'm assuming a mushroom sauce and accompanied by onion rings and I believe boiled vegetables. As mentioned, schnitzel was thin, a bit too crunchy. At least the sauce was good. Onion rings were likely fried just a bit too long and mostly tasted of batter. The cauliflower and broccoli were fine, but the peas were old, fibrous and had no right being on the plate.
The dessert of the day was a cheesecake which was chalky, flakey, and even after several bites was still unable to ascertain if it really was a cheesecake or not until we asked the waitress.
Overall, quite disappointing. At RM43, I venture you can probably do much better than Morganfield's Imago for lunch.
