Overnight Stay.
The reason I chose this hotel because of the Photos on website.
Usually photos online were too good to be true from all of my experiences.
Took the risk this time with GB cos of the reasonable rate that I could afford.
- to my surprise - the real thing is more than expectation.

So convenient to almost everything that you need for a "business/rushing" traveler who doesn't have much time to spend looking around for ATM/Good Food/ Good stuffs to buy for gifts.

Instead of Taxi I prefer to take buses for "'views/extra tour" at lower cost. (back pack traveler)

All else are good.
But the pillowssss smell
at around 2 - 4 am (LOUD & Annoying bike/car racing outside)

Room Tip: ASK THE RECEPTION to arrange it for you ^_^ you can trust them

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for two nights while attending a wedding and reception on March 1. We booked a superior room and was upgraded to an executive room but paid a price. We had to wait till 6 pm to get into our room wasting valuable time with other family members. I feel that we got trapped into a room shuffle routine by the hotel to accomodate more guests. The hotel was busy with many Chinese tourists from China as well as some Korean tourists. It is my feeling that this hotel caters more towards these tour groups rather that individuals booking at the hotel. The hotel staff kept giving us the excuse that the room was being cleaned and prepped (for two hours). I feel that the hotel only prepares enough rooms to meet the demand and have to scramble when the demand is exceeded. The hotel is very disorganized at handling their guests. My brother in law had his wedding reception at the hotel and was deeling with frustration after frustration with the hotel staff.

The hotel room had a nice view and design but the room looked well used with scratches on the walls and furniture. It had a nice view annd was clean. The room required attention and some TLC. My feeling is that the hotel is only doing the minimum at the hotel while maximizing profits.

We also had the breakfast buffet. This was the only thing that the hotel did a good job at.

I probably would not stay here again. We did not go in with any big expectations, but I don't think this hotel deserves our business again. It was just OK

Just completed a 5 night stay here and was overall happy with this hotel. Connected to a shopping mall it's convenient for the shoppers and has a couple of bars for the non-shoppers.

Only real complaint, as previously mentioned by others is that the internet in the rooms is unusable as it is so slow. Best bet is to go to Starbucks next door.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a Grand Deluxe room.

There are a few hotels in 1 Borneo Mall. Hotels in Kota Kinabalu are generally pretty fully booked as with the new international flights from China & Korea, there are many tour groups. Suggest early booking if you want to get a decent room at a decent rate.

1 Borneo is quite far from town & airport. Best to have own transport for ease of movement. Carparks are available but as in any mall situation, it can get crowded during peak. 1 Borneo itself has a large mall, several banks, eatery & 24hr mini mart. It is quite self contained if you want to just stay in the hotel.

Room - only slightly bigger than a Tune Hotel room & tiny bathroom. For the rate that I paid (approx RM260net), might as well get a room in Tune H (it's only 50m away from Grand Borneo & less than RM100) if you are planning to be out the most of the day. Clean, good mattress & pillows. Tiny window. Good range of toiletry, towel, slippers & hairdryer.

Hotel lobby, don't even try to get a seat at night as it is usually packed with tour groups.

Check in & out is smooth. The staff are friendly but not very well trained.

If you plan to be in 1 Borneo area & not planning to stay in the room all day, best to get a room in Tune Hotel. There is also a Novotel next to grand Borneo but no idea what the rooms are like but the rates are definitely at least 30% higher. Again, try to book early as Novotel gets filled up by tour groups as well.

I had enjoyed my stay. The price was very reasonable. I did take the cheapest room ie rm140 per night but the room is comfortable- clean n spacious. The staff and the service was good too. Fast check in and check out.
