Lovely place to lay down on a sarong and read/nap. However your peace and serenity may very we'll be disturbed by loud obnoxious mainland Chinese tourist who also litter.
Otherwise, nice little island, quieter than Gaya or Sapi. Clear waters and interesting fish to sight while snorkeling

We go there on February 2014. We catch a boat from jesellton point. The journey to the island were quite smooth. When we arrived it was very hot. Remember to put sun block on or your skin will be burned. The island were very beautiful. You can see alot of fish from the jetty. There's alot of people snorkeling nearby the beach. And I found a lot of monitor lizards at the logde up the hill. It's a very nice island.

We caught a water taxi from Jesselton Point. Unlike the tour operators who charge through the roof we did (2 people) two islands and snorkel hire for $88RM each. The operators were pretty flexible when we wanted to move to the other island and come back. The buffet on the island was 50RM. The snorkelling and beaches were fantastic. Only down side is there is so much rubbish in the water! You must get off the mainland and out to these islands, they are fantastic. Good snookering under the jetty, just don't get too close to the boats.

This is island #2 of the 3-island day tour we took from Kota Kinabalu. It is simply relaxing and beautiful.

Just wish for cleaner public bathrooms but it still is a must visit for the water and sand.

I first came to Manukan in 2002 for a company retreat. Since then, I have returned thrice, the last one being November last year (just a short island-hopping after a meeting in Kota Kinabalu). The fact that the resorts and the surrounding beach and other attractions have managed to stay almost the same all these years is pretty remarkable. It is a beautiful island, the water is crystal clear in some places and the beach is great for many activities. It is also a very safe place to visit, compared to a more remote island resort particularly those closer to the Phillipine's waters. But I have to warn visitors that the hotel rate and food prices can be a bit expensive here.
