“Please Clean Up Your Act!”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

My husband and I were in Manukan Island in January 2014. The beach was so dirty with plastic bags and plastic bottles. Please clean up this beach! Thank you.

“Bad tour agency.”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Manukan is one of 4 island near to Kota Kinabalu. there are, Sapi, Memutik and Gaya. The island was great, with the fish, coral, clear water and the sandy beach. Commodity in this island is well maintain. We were there at 10 am until 5 pm. This 7 hours was not so great, most of it was waiting and abandonment. So we arrived at 10 am in Manukan and was set to go fot parasailing on 10.30 am, but the personnel from the tour agency left us without calling. In the end we called the tour agency. In the end we parasailed after 11 am. It was fun and thrill. Then, we go for snorkelling, until 2pm, theres a lot of colourful fish, sea cucumber, corals and other marine life. Just to remind, the fish do bite and its hurt, especially the black fish with white dot. After that, we had our lunch, nothing special, but the exhaustion after snorkeling made us so hungry and we ate with appetite.

Come the bad thing, waiting for the boat to fetch us is deppresing, we told them to fetch us at 3pm but they said the boat alredy left manukan, the problem we've been there 15 minutes from the time set. So we wait, the boat to fetch us at 4pm and there are no sign of the boat coming. After that, I spotted one of the personnel from the tour agency and ask him, it was all reasons and excuses. He said, that we wait for other tourist, and they late, so after 5pm we headed to back and I watched the late persons unsatisfied.

Overall, the Island is great, it just the tour agency made mistakes.

“Sea, sand and jungle”
Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

This island is known for its clear water and sandy beaches. It's beaches are wide enough for family gatherings and games. The water however is not crystal clear as expected. During weekends, the beach can be quite crowded. It can be reached by a short boat ride from the Jesselton Point jetty terminal with departures as early as 8.00 am and return trip at 4.30 pm. At RM30.20(inclusive of jetty tariff of RM7.20) plus another RM3.00 conservation fee charged by the Sabah Park on arrival at the island, it is a worthwhile trip to make to get away from the city and to enjoy the sea breeze and to relax the mind. Besides snorkelling, visitors can just roam the island along the track provided for that purpose. A short visit will suffice but can opt for night stays since lodging facilities are available. Food is easy to find as restaurants and good stalls are available.
