Description: MEET BELLA.. In Italian and Spanish, 'Bella' means beautiful...and she is! She's the elegant restaurant on Gaya Street, standing on the corner where the Jesselton Hotel is. But she's not just beautiful outside, she is inside too...You thought Bella was Italian, right? All pizza and pasta? Wrong. BELLA IS WORLDLY. She dropped 'Italia' a few years ago, and expanded her horizons. Dine at Bella and experience five different cuisines: Mediterranean, Latin, Middle Eastern, Indian and, of course, her local specialities by traditional cooks who have stayed with her all through the decades. Bella changes her menu every three months, to keep things fresh and exciting. BELLA IS LOCAL. Only around 10-12% of the food used is imported. The rest is sourced locally, creating personal relationships with local producers. Bella places an order for vegetables with farmers from the Ranau/Kundasang area; the vegetables are picked overnight and brought in at 9.30am the next morning.BELLA IS HEALTHY. She has a new range of healthy beverages, using all local fruits and with no sugar added. Bella doesn't fry the fish for her 'Fish & Chips', it's grilled - healthier and with more flavour. She knows what people in town like to eat, but she does it in a healthier way. No wonder she's beautiful ;)So now you know Bella. Why not make a date and let your taste buds fall in love?

Inasmuch as I love Italian food, somehow this place just doesn't tingle my tastebuds I guess. Its ok, just not amazing. But it does have a lovely environment

Our first experience was a Pizza on our first night in KK. We got a table and our drinks and then we were forgotten. An hour later and we finally got to order a Pizza. It was a good Pizza but was it worth the wait. Sometimes it is nice to have western food in Asia so maybe it was worth the wait. We had bought breakfast vouchers from our hotel and they were also for Bella Italia, So we had breakfast on 2 mornings. Once again the service was lacking but this time the food and value for money was lacking also. I would not have breakfast here using a hotel voucher.

After a few hit and runs with restaurants in KK, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice meal before we left and came to Bella Italia. The restuarant looked really nice even from the outside. We ordered the Turkish spiced calamaris, quattro pizza and a herb cheese crust chicken with mashed potato and capsicum sauce. Every dish was delicious and the servings were generous. Desserts were panna cotta and a banana split. There was nothing left and it was definitely the best meal we had in KK.

I had the best al dente pasta here, and the pizza was good too.

Before 6 or 7 pm (check with the waiters) the pizza and pasta are half-priced and very affordable indeed. I liked the Ethiopian food too, though the portions were a little too big for me and my friend.
Ambience is great, you could enjoy the rain and traffic sitting in the restaurant looking out, while the soft music plays in the background.

Live music on certain nights, and just get a cocktail from the elderly bartender Mr Aji. He is such an icon, and so friendly. :)
