We stayed for a night at the two bedroom apartment as we needed space to work with the rest of the team (staying in different rooms) to prep for our company planning session.
To sum it up, while the function rooms were well maintained, the rooms were unfortunately sub-standard and signs of ageing showed due to lack of care, not because the hotel is "old." Bathroom was mouldy at the edges, we found cups in the kitchenette not cleaned properly, countertop's not wiped clean, and the room smelled musky. Corridor was not well lit (but it worked because it hid the stains and scratches on the wooded areas of the wall!). By the way, one of our colleagues in a separate deluxe room refused to stay in because his room, apparently, was in a deplorable condition. This, coming from a guy who doesn't mind roughing out in the jungle when we went camping. It spoke volumes of housekeeping standards!
Rooms apparently had free WiFi but we found out that the farther you are from the main Lobby area, the poorer the reception which pretty much screwed up our prep session. It was already midnight by then and business center was already closed. Thank God for our own broadbands.
Staff who were on the grounds (lobby, concierge, bell service, f&b) though, were very pleasant, helpful, attentive, and friendly. Congratulations and well done to the team. But housekeeping...hmmm.
Breakfast and lunch at the main coffee house was okay - nothing to shout about, but okay. You may want to try the Mee Mamak though - that was delicious and ordered a la carte!
Pullman, focus on giving the same care to all rooms, not just the ones the Ministers use. We "lowly" execs are the ones who make the recommendations, remember?
Thank you for your comments. We are renovating completely our 42 units of apartment and 15 of them have been completed. I am sure that on your next stay you will notice the difference.
A beautifully designed hotel amidst a very relaxing environment..on the Putrajaya lake. The atmosphere is quite serene for those seeking tranquility and relaxation. Staff are courteous and helpful and the Breakfast is excellent with very good service. Staff at the Check-out desk, Mohammed Azmil was especially friendly, efficient and professional.
A stroll around the hotel in the evening, in itself is a very enjoyable experience and one can always hire a bike at reasonable rates to bike around the lake. An array of water-sports facilities are on offer at the adjacent marina.
The Village Restaurant offers excellent food and we indulged in their seafood BBQ at the Lakeside with delight. The price was quite reasonable at 89 Ringgit per head.
There is one restaurant in the Marina next to the hotel (not hotel's property). Though the food and ambience is really good, the service is very unprofessional as the staff are apparently untrained. Eg. We were served bread and butter after we had almost finished our meal.
We had booked Deluxe rooms that were quite spacious and decent, though not luxurious. Perhaps the colour scheme did not give the feeling of luxury even though the room was well equipped.
Downside : the hotel interiors ad quite dull giving an unkept look, though housekeeping is quite good which I would expect of an Accor chain. Also, there are no proper signage to guide guests within the hotel facility. Being a spread-out hotel, it is very easy to get lost within the maze as the directions are either non-existent or inconsistent. The hotel management needs to seriously look into the same and review way-finding from a stranger's perspective.
The room lighting fixtures needs an upgrade and more lighting is required within the room to facilitate reading and writing.
Thank you for your comments. It is always great to hear from a satisfied customer. We value all feedback and continually strives to have happy customers.
We took 3 rooms for our big family . Rooms were goods but not much happening in the hotel. Check ing staff were good and fast.
Were had Lunch , Dinner and breakfast at the same rest. Service was super slow and manyytimes we had to call and repeat our request. There other outlet at the lake was super quite and staff not welcoming.. Although the kids enjoyed the big space in the hotel , there was nothing much to do . We were lucky as we only stayed for a night. Anything more that , will bore you. The hotel spa was only average, nothing to shout about.
Our check out was slow as some one had used our room line to make a call out with out our permission. Still worndering as to how that can happen when we wre all together at that point of time as shown on then check out bill.My biggets dissapoinment was the food in the hotel. Putrajaya is a big place and it is not easy to get out of the hotel for food , then eating there.Although i had read some bad remarks about this place, i had told my family to try for a night. Seems the reviews were not taken well for any improvements.
Thank you for your comments which will be shared with our Director of Food and Beverage and Executive Chef. Quality and variety of our food has always been a priority and all guests comments are taken seriously.
Had a work event there and despite hosting 30 people there for a day long event they charged me a 1/2 day....anyhow the place is nice but lacked working wifi in the rooms during my visit. Normally that is not a problem but when everything at the remote hotel is closed at 10pm I was stranded for night time fun (normally I fire up Netflix and fall asleep)! No CNN but that is nothing too important. Food at B's is nice at lunch. China Bar Lounge is nice (although closes at 10pm)! Facilities are nice and the decor is modern....the AV equipment is a bit dated but overall it is a good place to host an event. I will be back.....oh nice jogging path by the lake too! (Finish on a positive note) :)
Thank you for your comments which will shared with our team members.
My husband and I decided to celebrate our seventh anniversary at this hotel in December 2012. We had wanted somewhere out of Kuala Lumpur - not too far to drive to (about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the driver) yet far enough that we wouldn't feel like we were still at home during our stay - and decided to try Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside.
We made the booking via Accor Hotels' website and chose a deluxe room with balcony. In the booking form, we had requested for a room with the king-sized bed in the Rafflesia wing (which we heard had the best rooms). At check-in (which was efficient), we were happy that we not only got the room that we requested but it was also a corner room, which meant that any external noises were limited.
The room itself was spacious with a wooden floor and high ceiling. The bed was nice and comfy and pillows sufficiently fluffy. The balcony part was a bit weird because before you got to the outside balcony, there was a kind of alcove - seemed like wasted space as there wasn't any furniture there (but this is trivial). Noticed some spots (which we hope was just spilled curry) on the carpet in front of the bed. The wardrobe was in the bathroom (which is something unusual) and, aside from the usual laundry bag, bedroom slippers, ironing board-and-iron and safe, it had a pair of dumbbells and a large umbrella. The bathroom had a nice rainshower in an enclosure and basic toiletries.
While the hotel may seem confusing initially, it's pretty easy to find your way around once you orientate yourself to the placement of the wings - there are hotel maps at the lift lobbies to help you. It's interesting to see the different themes in the four wings of the hotel - Bunga Tanjung (has the main restaurant), Lotus (has the main reception and many other facilities), Jasmine and Rafflesia - and the grounds are lovely for photo-taking. Also, it is able to walk around and not bump into too many other guests, which is nice.
We took a dip in the rooftop pool (Lotus wing) - would do for a quick workout but it's not really welcoming for lounging around or hanging out at.
The breakfast was decent enough - nothing great but I've had worse - although the restaurant seemed understaffed every time we went for a meal there - while we were still at breakfast (about 10am), the staff were already getting tables ready for lunch even though breakfast isn't supposed to end until 10.30am. We had dinner there on our second night and ended up going straight to the reception counter at the front to make payment because we couldn't get the attention of the waitstaff that were hanging around there.
The hotel might also be a little inconvenient for those who do not drive over as it is far from any shops or restaurants even within Putrajaya - the nearest mall (Alamanda) takes about 15-20 minutes to drive to and there aren't any nearby restaurants for meals outside the hotel.
The furnishings do look like they could use with some updating and maintaining but on the whole, it's not too bad a hotel. It makes for a good quick weekend getaway for couples or for business retreats (one was happening there during our stay) as there isn't anything much in the area to distract you.
Thank you for sharing your experience with valuable inputs and nice photos.
