“Definitely One of the Best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

Koay Chiap is an acquired taste. Penang folks love this dish but not all the tourists learn to appreciate this.
Anyway, if you are adventerous, you should give this stall a try. The flat nice noodle is springy, the sauce is extremely good. Do get side orders of duck meat and pork innards too!

“Great Koay Chiap”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

A surely not to miss place in Penang Food Hunt. A great Teochew dish that is getting rare to find in Malaysia.

“delicious and unpretentious Penang street fare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2012

flat rice noodles, in a savoury rich soya sauce based broth, served with duck meat, pork innards and meat. Garnished with a bit of fresh chopped cilantro and fried garlic bits. This soupy dish is delicious, Penang folks are inclined to a few stalls famous for good taste even though this kind of fare is prolific in Penang,

“Good duck meat Koay Chap in town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2012

While it may be sitting at road side and "five foot way", this is typical Penang Street Food.
The texture of the koay chap has improved a lot since opened 3 decades ago.
They serve porridge (teow chew type) and koay chap.
The better way to enjoy is to order a plain porridge or koay chap follow by the side orders like duck meat (any parts), spare parts , egg, pork intestines ......
The best one to add is another bowl of duck blood.
To supplement the meal, order one bowl of hot almond drinks from anothe road side stall opposite the koay chap stall.

“Quite good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2012

The soup is really delicious, very tasty and the serving is generous, plenty of duck meat and other ingredients. The texture of the koay was very good as well, chewy I would say. All is fine except that I wasn't quite used to the taste of the koay, it didn't taste bad, just a slight funny taste which I couldn't really figure out.
