We spent a happy four nights at the Naza, Penang. Room was great (deluxe), facing the sea. Excellent breakfast, excellent restaurant staff - reception staff not so friendly. Decent pool, and beach lapping at the hotel wall! Fanstastic! On top of that, less than USD 50 per night, and conveniently located - not too close to the city center, not too far. Like other Penang hotels, TV sucked - barely 2 channels! Also, we were ripped off on internatonal calls. In comparison, we paid a fraction for international calls at a more upmarket hotel we stayed in earlier (Hydro). When in Naza, DO NOT make international calls, Else, thumbs up!

Room Tip: Don't make international calls-total rip off!

Penang the 8th of March 2011.

Because of the noicy situation in downtown Georgetown, we moved for 5 days to the Naza Talya hotel, located in Tanjung Tokong , approx.3 miles from the City Center.
The hotel is situated direct to a sandy beach and there is a big Foodcourt opposite the hotel-entrance. The busstop is at 300 meters.
The rooms are fully equiped and on request there is an iron. Airco ,refrigerator and Cup and Tea facilities are available. The breakfast is more Malaysian but there is also a western corner. Eggs and Noodles are also available and you can make your own housestyle. The swimming-pool is small but direct looking over the sea.

They offer also a free of charge internet WIFI connection.

There are a lot of people who are there with a long term condition which means that this report is controllable.
We entertained ourselves during those 5 days in the hotellobby and also on the terrace, overlooking the Strait of Penang.
The reception is typical Malay but correct and the Front desk Manager is always there to inform about the highlights Penang.
We recommend this hotel for business and leisure, but not for people who are looking for a door to door amusement.
This hotel offers everything for a pleasant stay in Penang.

The hotel is cheap (out of season), the location is ok (considering it is penang), the view is very good though! - The beach is not so nice, very deep and filled with jellyfish (they have warning signs). the sand is good though.
The Images they use online to promote the rooms are VERY manipulated, the "superior" rooms are very small, and could be so much nicer if they just maintained them (fridge not working, AC noisy, toilet flush if your lucky, sink hole is stuffed and the curtains doesn't cover the windows properly (very annoying if you plan to sleep longer than 08.00 (which we do) -
Front desk is not bad, quite helpful (but also VERY slow)
Pool is there.. but again not maintained so it is not that appetizing.

anyway all in all not a bad hotel, they should really just get their act together and tighten up, then it would be great value.

i might be biased (traveling 5 weeks in India and 5 weeks in Thailand before coming to Penang, but the island seems generally boring, poor beaches, poor food and limited activities (spice garden, butterfly garden, and Evenings in Georgetown is are great though).. Trafic suck's from 16-18.00.

If you are traveling from Thailand then stay there... it is cheaper, nicer and easier and much more diverse.

Is by the beach and near Georgetown and close to Batu Ferringhi beach. Rooms looks new and it was relaxing to sleep. I would stay there again for my next trip. Service is above average. Price is very reasonable compared to other hotels that I usually stay in Penang.

The location of the hotel is good. Easy to reach. Our first room (608) was not cleaned at all and there were a lot of dirty spots on the wall. The manager of the hotel moved us to the suite room (601). That room is at sea side and the view is beautiful. This room is not vacuum cleaned, the lights in the bedroom are flickering all night long and the air system cannot switched off. We will not come back to this hotel.
