“Fantastic central location in Georgetown”
Reviewed April 29, 2014 via mobile

Armenian Street is a great place to stay in Georgetown: its walking distance to everything of interest in the heritage part of town and is where most of the street art is. The hotel is clean with good but simple rooms. We used the shared bathroom which was fine, with a really nice high shower. The staff is friendly and will go out of there way to help you if you ask. Would highly recommend this place for anybody looking for a quiet, affordable, and central place in Georgetown.

We stayed in Armenian House for the three nights and were so pleased with everything!

Our room was on the top floor with a private bathroom. Yes, the place has the challenging stairs, but staff will help you to bring your luggage. Basically, if you are not a disabled person, it should not be an issue for you to walk up and down.

The bathroom and shower – clean and worked well. I also inspected the shared bathrooms - they were spotless! Beds and pillows are very comfortable. The sheets, towels – all spotless white!

The staff is friendly, accommodating, and helpful. All our requests have been fulfilled: the towels were changed within minutes, the extra hangers were provided, the special vegetarian sandwiches have been made for us every morning, even the late checkout was approved without extra pay.

If you are not staying in this hotel, then you should at least come for a cup of cappuccino with the delicious cake made by Khim, the House Manager.

Don't miss the wonderful experience!

We had actually reserved a different hotel for our stay in Georgetown but unfortunately received an email two days before arrival cancelling it due to a fire. A rather last minute rush whilst travelling we found Armenian House online and made a rushed reservation. How happy we are that happened! Armenian House was fantastic. This is a budget friendly place and it has fairly basic facilities however it has such a lovely, friendly and relaxed vibe. The staff were exceptional, they all were friendly and extremely helpful. They made you feel very welcome and at home. The place is very clean and our double room, was comfortable clean and quiet. It has air conditioning in the rooms. It is shared bathrooms but again they are clean. There is a washing machine and detergent provided that you can use as and when you want. The café below was really good, with lovely snacks on offer. Wifi was included and the connection for us was good. We had a fantastic stay here and couldn't have asked for a better place, location and great staff. I would definitely recommend and stay there again if ever travelling that way.

I recently stayed at the Armenian House for four nights. It was within walking distance of everything I wanted to see. Clean. Quiet. Comfortable bed. The water flow out of the rainshower shower head is a guilty pleasure! Historic old traditional shop house which has been completely renovated within the past year, so everything is practically new. The accommodations are upstairs above a cafe. The owner of the hotel/cafe is one of those friendly people you feel like you know as soon as you meet them. I couldn't have been happier with my choice.

We had a lovely room in Armenian house. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. Wi-fi Was intermittent in the room with the need to have the router reset. Did not have breakfast in the rate so can't comment. Overall, a pleasant stay, if a little pricey.

I first use to pop into the café as there was delicious food being served for lunch; my favourites being the lemongrass and mint juice, mango cheesecake and a vegetarian pasta dish was very tasty. I decided to stay for a couple of nights upon a return trip to George Town; and I felt very comfortable, welcomed and at home at Armenian House. The manageress and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are fresh, comfortable with lovely hand painted murals on the wall, and dark wooden floors. The shared bathroom areas are spotlessly clean and you still get the sense of staying in a very old building. The guesthouse is central to most of the George Town sights, and right there for many of the interesting places to visit - temples, museums, the heritage trail etc.

Room Tip: Depends on your budget but I am travelling so I took the cheapest option, shared bathroom and window...

We are just about to check out from Armenian House after a 3 night stay in George Town. We chose this place mainly due to the 'cleanliness' reports and it has not disappointed ..it's spotless. We are possibly the oldest guests yet ? It's a traditional chophouse with a few different room options for travellers, the 2 flights of stairs up to our ensuite double are very steep but not a problem for us! Breakfast is a sandwich and coffee/ tea but as there are loads of cheap places around the area then again no problem. It is situated right in the heart if the Heritage sight so easy to walk about seeing all there is to see. We also got around on the Rapid buses to the Botanical Gardens and the Butterfly Farm..easy and cheap from either the Jetty or Komtar which are really near to walk to. Little India just around the corner for cheap food in the evening.
The cafe in the house is quirky and warm , we didn't use it as so much else to see and do!
All in all for location and culture ( and cleanliness!) we don't think you can get better.
