“Dharmikarama Temple”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

In the middle of the hustle and bustle of Pinang, you have two beautiful temples, Dharmikarama and the Wat Chaiya temples, opposite to each other.
The Dharmikarama Temple is stunning with its beautiful filigree work on wood .The temple is maintained very well. The richness in architecture is awesome.Do not miss this place if you visit Pinang.

“Interesting place and plenty to explore”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We attended the Dharmikarama temple after visiting the colourful Thai temple across the road and we were not dissappointed with the massive standing Budda and intricately carved wooden ceilings of this temple. The grounds of the temple are also excellent to explore and my young children particularly liked the 2 chimera. We found this a most facinating and spiritual place that I would highly recommend to travellers to Penang. When you couple this with the Thai Temple across the road, it makes a very interesting visit that also had my chldren spellbound and asking many questions concerning religion and faith in general. There is a commercial element to this temple located at the front door in terms of touristy items for sale and if you feel compelled to do so, you can also help out some of the less fortunate members of Penang society too who frequent the temple. It was a great educational trip for people with young children and this is one beautiful temple that is worth the visit.

Closer to the true spirit of Buddhism than any other temple I vistited in Penang, uncrowded, peaceful, serene, and only a couple of minutes from Gurney Drive, .

Directly opposite the reclining buddha. Half an hour should be sufficient to view the incredible workmanship.

Two temple, one is burmese and the other is the thailand temple is just across the street. actually i preferred the thailand temple as it reside a sleeping buddha inside the temple. It is mostly for tourist attraction, no cost is needed to enter the temple.
