Wasnt really impressed with this tourist site. Amazing view of the city but you get bored after 10 minutes. We went during the day. Would suggest going at night as the view should much better with all the lights.

“History stands still”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

when you're in Penang make sure you'll be visiting this place. An old train will take you to the highest place of town, it will be a bit cold upthere. This place is good if you 're with children.

“New train is much better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

First of all, ignore what has been said before 2012 about the funicular train. The line has been refurbished and has new air-conditioned coaches which complete the journey in half an hour. There are a few request stops so that as the up-going and down-going trains are connected by a (very strong) wire if one stops the other will stop also, generally in the middle of nowhere. When you understand this it is not a problem. Some of the trains were packed when we travelled, though not quite like sardines.
In good weather the views are excellent but it is worth remembering it is in a tropical rainforest so be prepared for anything. The walk along the summit trail is well worth the effort, especially if, like us, your interest is birds, as there are lots to see, with over 100 species recorded there, Although we did not see anywhere near that number, indeed we did not expect to, we saw a lot more than those who took the electric cars, which you do need to be careful of as they race along the road quietly!

“Another Great Place....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

Frankly speaking If anybody want a best couple time spent uplooking Penang town, then this is a must visit for a couple. View from the above is quite spectacular especially when the clouds are clear, One could see every inch of Penang Town from over there. However when the train goes up & down the hill the view of lush green gardens & flowers will surely amaze you.I was also quite impressed with the infrastructure provided over the hill. I would recommend better way of transport is Rappid Penang Bus Service with Bus No. 204, which is very cheap & was quite admired to hear Indian Music on the bus.

“Killer Views When the Clouds Cleared”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

Wait for the mist that hangs over the mountain to dissipate because there is nothing to see when it's covered in clouds.
