“Beautiful wiew”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

While visiting our friends in Penang the couple took us out to watch the wiews from Penang Hill.
The trip up to the wiewpoint is by a train and is quite fast. It was a bit tickeling in our stomachs in the beginning but that feeling went away.
Up on the top the wiew was amazing! You also can walk around a bit to get some other wiew-angles towards the djungle on the other side of the hill.
In total a well worth attraction!

“Excellent views”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Take it from me, if you want to visit Penang hill, avoid it on foggy, overcast or extremely hot days. Between the line we waited for our tickets and the walking at the top of the hill, it was too hot and the view too obstructed by overcast/fog.

However, if the view is clear, this is well worth your time and effort. The ride up is incredible. The view is wonderful and there is plenty to explore when you get to the top. Overall it will be an unforgettable experience.

“great ride up”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

If you can get the seats at the back of the train and you will have a great view back down the line as you go up. The trip was great longer than I expected. It was nice and cool at the top though the view was slightly odscured as it was very hazy. Went to the owl museum, just a collection of owl figures. My daughter loves owls so she was happy. Had a ride along the summit road, saw some of the houses up there and the hotel. Worth a visit just for the ride up and can get there on the bus for next to nothing.

“Nice ride up and down Penang Hill”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

I love the funicular ride. So different from the slow ride up 25 years ago when I last visited Penang. The ride was fast and the ride down was thrilling as the gradient was steep at one part of the hill.

I like the kacang puteh stall where you can find special chickpea being sold. Must try.

We took a buggy ride that was informative as the driver showed us the old bungalows that have been built on Penang Hill. That saved us lots of walking. Up on the hill, there is a playground, indian temple and a mosque.

Temperature was cooler up on the Penang Hill, but the sun was scorching despite of the cooler temperature. Nice pictures can be taken of Georgetown, but as I was there in the morning, it was not possible to get a nice shot.

“Good place for family with kids”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

Overall, we love the place. It is beautiful and a must visit. If you are fit enough, you can opt for hiking up the hill. The hiking trail is quite neat and choose to come down using the train. Otherwise, you can go up by train. The view from the top hill is marvellous. You can see the Penang city.
