The botanical gardens in Penang are right next door to the entrance of the "Jeep Track". The gardens are free of change and it is good to escape from the polluted roads below. A great escape and there was no one there when i was walking around.

Free of charge! Really nice place to go for a walk, picnic or run, especially as its free if charge.
Lots of monkeys running around and ideally situated if you have visited the nearby temple ko Lek or Penang Hill

The gardens were Ok but it was disappointing that lots of the houses were shut. If you want to see the monkeys we found them in the car park near a food stall

We rented a scooter so it was an easy spot to get to. Strange in so far as most the plants are in "cages" that were locked, so you look at them from the outside. Monkeys hanging around trying to get fed. 30 minutes is all you need there.

The best part of the gardens is the former quarry where the exposed rock face is a spectacular celebration and panorama. It is hard to fine. No direction signs put up. This is Pg biggest problem insufficient signage.
