I booked this hotel for about $50 a night on Agoda.com (prepaid), and it was pretty nice for $50 a night. The room was very spacious, clean, and reasonably comfortable, and the location is great, but there are lots of complaints.
The breakfast buffet was truly disgusting. They had chinese red bean dumplilngs, which I usually love, but these were spongy and appeared to be filled with canned refried beans. They had greasy noodles, hard hash browns, and a wide assortment of food from different countries that was all too disgusting to be eaten. I am a very cheap person and have never before skipped a free hotel breakfast buffet, but this one was so gross that I skipped it the second day and went to a roadside stall to eat Indian food instead. It was much better.
The bathroom of the hotel was OK, but not great. The shower was a little mildewy and sprayed water everywhere due to a leaky pipe.
By FAR, the worst part of the hotel was the service. I'd read about the free shuttle to the Bayview Beach hotel in Batu Ferringhi so I asked the front desk girl what time the shuttle leaves. She said there wasn't a set time, and that I could just tell them when I wanted to go. The next day, I went to the front desk to tell them I wanted the shuttle. A different girl was there, and she told me to walk to the KOMTAR building a mile away and take the bus. I asked her if I could take the hotel's free shuttle, and she said there is no shuttle. I asked her when they stopped their shuttle service, and she said it never existed.
Housekeeping was also very bad. When I checked in, there were no towels in the room. When I called to ask for some, the housekeeper came in to "make sure" there really weren't any towels, as though I might be lying about it!
I had a room with two beds, and each just had a thin blanket, so I used the blankets from both beds on my one bed since it was cold. When housekeeping came to clean up the next morning, all they did was make the bed, and they went out of their way to remove all the sheets that went with the second bed, so I just had the thin blanket on one bed and a bare mattress on the other one. I had to ask them for an extra blanket, which took about an hour for them to deliver. They also failed to give me the two bottles of water that are supposed to be provided each day.
The hotel's spa looks nice, but I didn't get to try it. They only take cash, and they aren't affiliated with the hotel, so you can't have their services added to your bill either.
All in all, it's a decent, clean, safe hotel for $50, but it's definitely not any kind of luxury.
