“Clean & Friendly”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Super friendly hosts and very clean and tidy set up, the all girls thing is a great option for women traveling on their own or wanting a break from more noisy backpacker options. Located in the little india area of georgetown it's away from the main drag and an interesting location but still in easy walking distance to anywhere you'd want to go. bikes available and the owner has tons of local knowledge!

Spent a Friday there with a bunch of my girlfriends. Cozy place, friendly hosts and very clean toilets!
The place is a bit difficult to find as Queen St is not a main arterial, just because of that, it's quieter. Anyway, the location is strategic and it's walking distance to many attractions and eatery.

This was without doubt the best place we stayed on our travels throughout Malaysia. We arrived late at night and the taxi driver wasn't quite sure where the hostel was...the surrounding area is called 'Little India' and you could easily imagine you are in the colourful back alleys of an Indian town. Coupled with how affordable this hostel is, we began to think we had made a serious mistake in booking the hostel but we were so so wrong. One quick look through the door and my friend was urging us all to come inside. Inside we removed our shoes and walked barefoot onto the super clean floor. The girl inside was very friendly and we all sat on the bean bags near her desk while we went through the booking. While we were chatting, we mentioned that we had seen pictures of the awesomely cool canopy beds but that we had booked the standard double rooms instead because none of us were too sure about sharing in a dorm... she straight away showed us the canopy beds (which we loved!) and then rang her manager who said she would happily let us sleep there instead without having to pay extra. The hostel is clean, colourful and minimalistic. They have really thought about making their guests feel comfortable....there are plastic holders for your toiletries, hair dryers, OPI nail polish, books, magazines, tea and coffee and bean bags to lounge on. The owners are also really friendly...we met Zoe and Sujatha on our stay there. One night my friend and I were intimidated by two barking guard dogs on our way home and we panicked and called the hostel...and Sujatha actually came out and saved us. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that she probably saved our lives. Have I mentioned this is an awesome place to stay?

Room Tip: The canopy beds were really unique and fun - they are female only. Men may book rooms downstairs.

We travelled for 7 weeks in South East Asia and Queen's Hostel was by far the best place we stayed. Ideal for girls travelling alone due to the female only dorm, but nice private rooms too. It is really well done throughout, with the girls who run it thinking about what you really want in everything. The mattresses are amazing, giving me the best nights sleeps of the trip, and there is even a selection of nail varnish to use... The girls who run the hostel are lovely and were always on hand to give us excellent food and activity recommendations. The hostel is on a nice road in Little India with great street food right outside. It's also close to the hub of the backpacker area (Chulia Street and Love Lane) but without the noise and dangers. Would go back to Georgetown purely to stay here again.

By the time my friends and I arrived at Queens hostel it was a very pleasant sight for sore eyes. We had been staying mostly in Batu Ferrenghi prior, but had not slept in a single place for days which was clean or comfortable. Granted, we came to Penang at the end of Ramadan, so most of the nicer places had booked up. We were so exhausted when we arrived and we received the kindest assistance by the owner(s). The women who work at the hostel are fantastic! The place is spotless. It's adorable actually! So cozy and so clean. I could have stayed there forever. It looks like newly renovated. Polished concrete floors, freshly painted wood, brand new Ikea furniture. I highly recommend this hostel! If I return to Georgetown I will definitely stay here again.
