“Beautiful Historical Mosque”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

One of Penang's most attractive heritage building. The mosque is in central location of Georgetown near Little India. It's a beautiful mosque and if you like historical building you should definitely visit. Please wear proper (not too much flesh showing) attire when visiting. Just beside the mosque there is a restaurant/stall called 'nasi kandar beratur'. Beratur means lining or queuing up in Malay. It's named that because you basically have to line up (and it's a long queue) to get the famous Indian Muslim dish. Try and experience it.

“most attractive”

The prayer caller had a beautiful voice and his call to prayer was melodious and pleasant. The building is imposing and attractive. It is set in imposing gardens and non Muslim visitors are welcome.

“Well preserved”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

Noting that the building is more than a hundred years old, the Kapitan Keling Mosque is definitely a must visit if you are interested in heritage buildings. One can clearly see the influence of the Indian Muslim settlement in Penang from the architecture and religious symbolism of the building. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil and peaceful environment of the place. Tourists visiting here are advice to be cautious and observe manners when entering places of worship such as this mosque.

“Peaceful.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

A beautiful and peaceful mosque, believed to be the oldest in Penang, with a lot of history behind it. Just walking around it was a calming experience.
