Queen street is in the heart of Georgetown. It's a wide street that is often used for festivals and holiday celebrations. It leads to nearby Temples and a lot of shops and restaurants. it's worth a stroll. Pick up a free City map at the Tourist Office and ask for the tourist staff to mark off every nearby attraction on Queen Street. The tourist office is located a few blocks from the Clock Tower near Bishop Street

If you want to eat authentic Indian food, this is the place, especially for food served on banana leaf. Also the place is like you're in India with the loud Indian music and songs blaring.

I still haven't got to go to India, but surely I think this is what it must be when I finally go. Enjoy the smell, buzz, sights and Bollywood music. This is one of the things we loved about Georgetown, some places when you turn around a corner you're in a different city.

Especially in the evening the area becomes alive and people getting street food mania there. The Little India quarter is surely a must visit in Penang.

Bring a camera with lots of space for pictures, bottled water, and an appetite for food and adventure! Amble around and smile! Take a genuine interest in what you see and you will discover how relational and friendly Penang is!

These little streets are ideal for walking and scooters, not cars. Allow yourself to meander through the side streets since there is so much to see and experience! Beware of your valuables and pay attention to who is around you--stay safe.

There are 3 flagship indian restaurants here that i like:

Velho villas
Sri Ananda Bhawan
Karaikudi

Consider getting the ubiquitous vegetable set meal or "banana leaf", then sit back and gawk as they serve you a montain of food for about RM5. 3 vegetles with rice, pappadum crackers, lentil curry, assam soup and lime pickle on request. You can always add meats and fish as you desire, but the set meal is a lot to eat. A silky mango or sweet lassi (yoghurt drink) will certainly ease the pain of a fiery curry.

I also enjoy chicken samosas and vada in these restaurants or from street vendors. Then I usually end my meal with a lovely sweet treat from one of the shops.
