All that's really here is the walls of the fortress and a few cannon: there must have been more to this place but you won't learn much about what it was like from a visit.

Unfortunately, in Penang, the Fort is nothing more than a big open space with some very small rooms you can look into to learn about the spice trade. If this was in the UK or the States it'd be an attraction with entertainment, somewhere to eat or picnic, some souvenir shops and maybe a tour guide.

As it happens, it's none of those things. It's just a big old empty space. You literally get to see just as much walking around the outside. Nice to look at, but you really didn't want to pay to go in.

Interesting history, but more could be done to bring it alive. Supplement your visit with reading up elsewhere to find out more about fort cornwallis.

We strolled down to the fort from our hotel on Jalan Chulia and it proved to be a very enjoyable experience. Admission is extremely reasonable (only RM 2 per adult) and the grounds are well kept with useful signage. We spent about 35 minutes on the grounds and it was very informative and enjoyable.

Nothing much here. A few guns around the perimeter opposite the naval training establishment and a couple within the fort. Really naff toilets of the squat variety but hardly enough room to close the door. Ok to kill time probably half an hour would be stretching it. Did not find the visit very interesting unfortunately. Couple of ammo storage bits to see. Nothing much else.
