Description: Kebaya is the diningroom of the Seven Terraces and is open to hotel guests and the public.Open daily, 7pm till 10pm.Christopher Ong has worked with the hotel’s chefs to create a menu of classic Indo and Straits Chinese Nyonya dishes. They have refined these using French cooking techniques and innovative produce to deliver surprising new twists on this already fascinating cuisine. The effect is simple, delicious full of flavour and dazzling.A four course degustation menu of entrée, main course, vegetables and dessert is served in Chinese style to allow guests to share the dishes. The Baba Bar is open daily from 2pm onwards, with live piano music in a very intimate setting.

Kebaya is the restaurant of the newly restored hotel, Seven Terraces on Stewart Lane in Georgetown. It proposes fusion Nonya Peranakan food and it is probably the best restaurant in a city which is potentially the food capital of South East Asia.

The newly restored premises are remarkably pleasant with a colonial touch but not overdone and the food is excellent. I strongly recommend the Thai style soft crab. Absolutely wonderful.

It is certainly more expensive than most places in Penang, apart from the overpriced hotels, but the whole experience and service is worth it.

“Good food in a stunning setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

I went to Kebaya for dinner on New Year's Eve. The ambience of this restaurant was fantastic -- a beautiful setting with traditional old world style. The service was excellent. Even though I was dining alone, I was given a good table (which is sadly often not the case in restaurants when you are dining solo) with a perfect view of the piano; and had very attentive and helpful, but unobtrusive wait staff. The manager also stopped by several times to advise me on the menu and to check that I was enjoying my meal.

The food was really good -- well presented and tasty. My only comment would be that it would be useful to also be able to order less -- the set menus were quite substantial and more than 1 person alone could eat.

When I return to Georgetown, I will certainly return here and would also recommend it to others.

“A MUST in Georgetown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

This was EXCELLENT. Fantastic ambience in the Seven Terraces Hotel with excellent staff to match. Went there with friends and were advised o order only 3 set meals for the four of us, as servings were large - even then we did not manage to eat it all and it was delicious, every one of the 12 dishes we had was exceptional.
Great restaurant, great ambience, great staff, good wine list - do yourself a favour and go. (it is a bit more expensive than other Georgetown restaurants but you will not be disappointed)

“Great food, great place, great people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

To me this place is practically flawless. It feels refined and elegant but simple at the same time. I loved the fact that the tables are not too close to each other, that it was very quiet even when completely full, that the waiters are very kind and ready to help and that it no problem at all to share your meal if you feel you don't want to eat too much. What counts most, though, is the quality of the food, tasty and well presented. One can feel that the two young chefs are passionate and want to do something traditional but with a modern twist.
